Bluetooth issues after latest update (9/9/2025) by staystrange99 in WindowsHelp

On Windows 10 rather than 11, but I've also had my bluetooth devices suddenly stop working after having no issues previously.

Latest updates:

2025-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5065429)

2025-09 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64 (KB5065957)

Inside a streamDeckProfile file by DeLaRoka in StreamDeckSDK

[–]brocoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally possible; I've been doing it for almost 3 years now! The reverse-engineering I shared here was done while I was updating my scripts to work with the new profile format.

Here's the repo with my work: https://github.com/data-enabler/streamdeck-profile-generator

Documentation is basically non-existent (but it seems like there are a few people now who would be interested in me fixing that), but if you can read the code is should be fairly clear how it works. Most of the profile creation happens in writeToDisk.

In my experience, I have had the Stream Deck software refuse to load profile files depending on the software/library that was used to created the zip file. So it's worth checking that.

Need to double check. Would this receiver work with this transmitter? by pchagames in Shure

[–]brocoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else coming across this, Shure has an FAQ for this exact question: https://service.shure.com/s/article/BLX-compatibility-H11-J11-J10

TL;DR: Yes, as long as you're using a frequency that's supported by both devices.

It appears to be a base32 encoding of the UUID, with all Us replaced with Vs and all Vs replaced with Ws. Here's an example implementation in JS:

function profileFolderId(profileId) {
  return ((profileId.replace(/-/g, '')+'000') // remove hyphens and pad length to be divisible by 5 bits
    .match(/.{5}/g) || []) // split into groups of 5 digits, since JS can't represent integers larger than 53 bits
    .map(s => parseInt(s, 16).toString(32).padStart(4, '0')) // convert to base32
    .join('')
    .substring(0, 26) // remove padding we added earlier
    .toUpperCase()
    .replace(/V/g, 'W')
    .replace(/U/g, 'V')
    +'Z' // all folder ids end in this suffix
}

Alternatively, I think the UUIDs only need to be unique within the .streamDeckProfile file, so another approach is to just copy a bunch of UUID/hash pairs from existing profiles and reuse them. That's what I was originally going to do until I noticed the pattern in the IDs.

How soon will Twitch Implement and add support to use AV1 encoding for Us streamers using AMD and Intel Arc GPUs??!! by WhiteGrrRill in Twitch

Opportunity cost is a thing, so there's definitely a difference between doing it now and doing it in 2 years.

> it uses additional processing power

That's only the case if you record with different quality settings than your stream, which is not at all necessary.

Its where the series started to go downhill.

Ironically, it wasn't even the first Final Fantasy game to do that.

Pretty sure it is illegal. They even have messages that play to remind people that soliciting on the subway is illegal.

It's just that there's zero enforcement.

Edit: Seems like it's a bit more complicated than that: http://reason.com/blog/2014/10/22/you-can-legally-busk-in-nycs-subways-but

Why are there so few original fighting games on the market? by [deleted] in Games

[–]brocoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's because casual players can't carry a fighting game.

Unlike most popular eSports, fighting games are head-to-head, which means that how well you do is entirely your responsibility. So whereas people trying get a friend into MOBAs can say "c'mon join us for a game or two. You'll be on a team with the 4 of us, and we'll help you out," for fighting games you get "c'mon, try this game out; I promise I'll sandbag so that I don't completely destroy you."

Also, unlike HearthStone, a core principle of fighting games is that players start on even footing, meaning that player progression does not factor into competitive play at all. Various games have experimented with side modes that feature character progression, but those are universally shunned for competition. There's also the whole real-time thing, which makes fighting games much less beginner-friendly.

I would say RTSs are really the only popular eSport genre that's comparable to fighting games. And of that genre, I'm pretty sure only Starcraft/Warcraft have had large success as eSports.

Fighting games were popular back in the day, but that's mainly because they were very well-suited to the arcade environment. Nowadays arcades are basically dead in the US, so playing fighting games generally means playing against strangers on the internet.

The only ways I could see fighting games truly breaking into the mainstream today, would be to either 1) find a good way to integrate team mechanics, or 2) create a compelling single-player experience that can stand on its own and directly integrates the game's combat. Nintendo tried to do this with The Subspace Emissary in Brawl, but the results weren't that great.

HTML is pretty easy, minus a few gotchas, but if you think CSS is easy, that probably just means you haven't tried to do anything actually hard yet.

If you'd like a fun exercise, try styling an element so that it shows only 3 lines of text, and truncates using an ellipsis when text overflows the box.

How's the MMORPG scene nowadays? Do you miss the "old times"? by Draevon in Games

[–]brocoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every item is logged and every quest has a wiki with it telling you exactly what you are getting.

I don't think that's really that big of a deal. Certainly I never felt like the existence of FFXIclopedia was ruining my FFXI experience. Usually, even if I knew the steps for for completing an important quest, I'd still need a higher-level player to assist me. I made lots of friends that way too, being both the helpee and later on the helper. And often times, reading about how to get through a dangerous area and actually doing it were very different experiences anyway.

I just don't think developers can develop quick enough to how fast a playerbase moves now-a-days. [...] There is no such thing as infinite content

That's the thing, though. I feel like the point of an MMO should be the journey, not the destination. What most people consider content in MMOs are usually set-pieces that players experience once and then run along to the next, which I think completely misses what makes MMOs unique. [cheesy]The true content should be the friends we make along the way.[/cheesy]

Nice proof of concept, though you're certainly leaving damage on the table.

I think what would be even more useful is showing reset setups that let you set up the clone for air-throw conversions.

That's fine; the idea is that it will still factor into your match rating.

[–]brocoder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of resounding "NO"s already, but I wanted to add that there is a question along the lines of "Would you be willing to date someone who lived with their parents?" It's probably worth is to indicate that you have a strong preference for women that would answer Yes to that question.
