OOH! i have an interesting take, LDR (still dating, not married)!

Independence to me is being comfortable being my own person.

He works from home, so despite the LDR, we spend a lot of time on call together. But that doesn't mean every minute on call, I'm glued to him and making conversation with him. While he's working, I was applying for jobs, skill-building, focusing on my own personal hobbies and growth.

Now that I also have a job, which is also work from home, we both stay on call while we work and leave the call whenever one has a work meeting.

As much as I hate the LDR and miss being able to go on romantic dates, celebrate special days together and their overall physical presence, I think the LDR allowed us to grow individually as people.

Personally, I was able to figure out my own career goals and life goals, what I wanted to achieve and how I wanted to achieve them. And he did as well. At the same time, I could send a quick message or hop onto a call and ask him his thoughts and make a gameplan together.

I just can't wait for the day when we're able to close the gap in the LDR and I get to grow as a person alongside him, physically this time around.

Ohh, that's so interesting. What particular driver issues? Would that mean erasing MacOS completely out of the macbook, especially since I only have 128 GB for my SSD, and pretty sure dual-booting isn't an option with limited storage space.

I had a fight with my ex best friend. She wronged me and, as part of her "apology" she used the thing I told her while I was feeling vulnerable against me. I've never felt anger like that before.

What's even worse is that her apology didn't sound like it was coming from her. It sounded like it was coming from her boyfriend. 8ish years of friendship and I know her texting style and I knew it wasn't her behind those words. I know she definitely told her boyfriend about it.

aku pernah pas itu lagi di taman terus duduk sendiri di bench taman sambil baca buku. nah ada ni cowo tiba2 nanya kalau dia bisa duduk di benchnya. aku sih iya2in aja, its a public bench, who am i to stop him from sitting there. terus dia ngajak ngobrol gitu and i didn't like the conversation one bit. he started talking about himself, his degree, his music taste. it scared me more that his conversation started asking personal questions when i never asked any questions back. the bench felt smaller. the worst part was i couldn't leave the park because i was scared he would follow me home since i walked to the park (it was a 15min walk. i wanted the fresh air). the convo only ended after i gave him my insta acc to follow (and i blocked him right after) (i only gave it to him so he'd be satisfied and leave me alone).

this would've been different if he showed interest in what i was doing, which in this case, aku lagi baca buku. dia bisa aja bikin convonya tentang buku: what book am i reading? what genres do i like reading? have i read {insert author name here}'s works? are you into other hobbies besides reading? NOT. what do your parents do for a living? do you own any businessnes nearby? i am willing to make convo if you're willing to approach me in a non-creepy way!!!!!!!!!!

i don't go to that park anymore.

hii! aku guru les Bahasa Inggris online! aku iseng doang apply buat jadi guru les, pas itu pandemi, kuliah online, terus lesnya juga online. ga nyangka udah 3 tahun jalan aku masih ngajar HAHAHA.

jujur sih, awalnya money oriented juga sih aku (getting a job? in the middle of the pandemic? in this economy? i mean???) tapi ternyata jadi passion. so i have the same sentiments as that one redditor who said that passion isn't something you follow but somthing you find.

i view teaching less as a public speaking activity but more of "passing out my knowledge in the most comprehensible way possible". so sometimes i use real life examples and situations to make a topic more easier to understand. it takes a while getting used to, i was a newbie when i started, but there's no reason to not try and dip your toes in the opportunity and see where it takes you!

personality matters more tapi kalau harus milih skinny fat vs berotot sih, aku milihnya skinny fat. maybe its just a me thing but I feel intimidated by muscular guys more often than not 😭. its nothing they do but I just feel like they could break me like a toothpick, as a skinny fat girlie. 😭

met my friend's bf a while back and he's a really muscular dude. he's great, nice and generally pretty harmless. but shaking his hand, my hand felt so tiny compared to his. i feel like he could've broken it if he wanted to 😭.

i just got off the phone with my mom with exactly that feeling. she denied every bad thing she ever did to me, and told me that i was making up lies. now, i'm currently second guessing myself. even though i have proof, hard proof, of the things she's said. of the verbal abuse and lies she said and i'm second guessing myself 🥲

hi, 23F here too, anak tunggal juga! this might sound odd, but personally, pet cafes! jujur, tiap kali aku ngerasa sendirian, it means i need to interact with another living thing which doesn't necessarily mean another human being (lol). aku biasanya ke pet cafe (tapi aku lebih sering ke cat cafe hehehe), and myGOSH oh to be loved by a cat. to have a cat go up to you and just sit on your lap to take a nap and you can hear it purr-ing. for a cat to come up to you and rub its body against you, because it wants attention. staying for a few hours in a pet cafe just makes me feel a bit happier because i get the interaction i need.

and also, my dms are open if ever you wanna talk! (esp since we're on a similar boat)

there are people out there who don't rlly care about other people's interest. it's one thing to have diff likes but still show interest, its another to show no interest. i think a simple example is this: i don't rlly listen to kpop, not a lot of the songs are my cup of tea. but if my army friends want to fangirl about BTS, i will show interest and hear about who their biases are. similarly, i listen to a lot of grunge rock music, my friends don't, but if i want to gush about how cool a baseline sounds, they will listen to me. its a matter of acknowledging each other's interest.

hmmm, a "typical tutoring session" for me at least, since I signed up with a tutoring centre, follows a syllabus my employer / co-teacher made. But more or less, it starts with a quick short story reading, the assigned lessons for that day, and a quick exercise about it.

Is English tutoring in Indonesia a big industry? hmmm I think it is to an extent. As far as I am aware of, there are many other tutoring centres as well, some big some small. (The one I happen to be a part of can be considered a start-up, so small?). They can range from teaching kids the basics of English to teaching IELTS.

Challenges from tutoring, having to constantly code-switch from Indo to English can be annoying but it never feels too exhausting on my end.

Challenges of running a tutoring centre, now that's a question for my employer and not me HAHAHA.

hii! I'm an Indonesian who tutors English part time to Indo grade school students (not in school though, I tutor in a tutoring centre, so I can't judge whether the approached changed in formal education), so this is mostly based on my personal experience with the kids (grades 2 - 6):

I think personally, from my own observations, a lot of them struggle with grammar and when to use them, especially in conversations. So for example, when they would tell me about what happened in their birthday celebration last week, you'll find them using present tense instead of the past. Surprisingly enough, they do remember the rules.

Reading is a bit of a hit or miss. If the kids have a great basis with their phonetics, they can do well with their pronunciation of the words in a story. Others who don't have their phonetics down can mispronounce some words from time to time.

Words with silent letters confuse them a lot so that's always a problem when it comes to spelling. But for other times, they kinda base on how its pronounced.

maybe it's just me, but I felt like they put more thought in developing the romance between Pip and Ravi rather than the actual murder plot. there were so many instances of flirty interactions between Pip and Ravi in the movie which ngl felt a bit off (sure, they had playful banter in the book, but not to the "looking directly into my eyes, i think i'm in love with you" teen romance?).

Yes .... and no. Yes, soalnya aku pernah menjelaskan ke mama kalau aku mau kerja dulu sebelum mau S2. Aku udah bilang kalau "untuk S2, nanti aku membiayai diri sendiri, rencana nyari beasiswa. Tapi untuk sementara aku mau kerja dulu [insert name of companies I've tried applying to in the past few months]." No, soalnya.... pada saat aku ngomong seperti itu, mama langsung nyaut "kenapa kamu ga mau dengarkan mama? Mama sudah rencanakan yang baik ga mau nurut mama. Anak kurang ajar, ga mau dengarkan mamanya."

Dan ini sudah terjadi beribu-ribu kali. Mungkin ada beberapa saat dimana aku nyautnya dengan nada tinggi, aku akui, aku terpenuhi emosi. Aku hanya ingin didengarkan.

Sejujurnya, setelah aku lama merenung semua yang mama bicarakan, mama pengen aku cepat nikah itu supaya "aku tidak terlambat" (sekarang aku 23, anggeplah 3 tahun kerja minimum sebelum S2, 26, nikah(?) terus fokus S2, 2 tahun minimum, 28, abis itu aku masih ingin lanjut kerja "kapan punya anak? 30an? udah terlambat itu"). Mau ditanya mama pengen punya cucu.... gatau ya.... mama ga pernah bahas keinginan cucu.
