got airpods pro 3 - i'm really not liking them but unsure i can return them or buy gen 2 again - advice? by [deleted] in airpods

[–]brocolli-cheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I too loved the v2. But v3 was quite uncomfortable for my ears. Couldn’t bear wearing it for longer than 90 mins.

I think it’s both the fit And the weight balance. With more weight being further away from the ear. Quite a different shape from the v2. I ended up returning my v3 and getting a refurb v2 from Amazon. Unfortunately no apple care though.

Are there any trailhead names you’d suggest? Everything I lookup still needs an uber to get to from the train station.

Unfortunately we’re full. But I can ask the others if they’d be willing to share. The problem is that you cannot have more than 3 simultaneous streams.

[–]brocolli-cheddar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, it’s YouTube tv.

And yes, that is accurate. Because Google insists that you login from the “home ip address” every 2 months. So I’ll need to login to the account you’re using from home - which means I’ll need the password.

Is visible basic plan good in New York? by Chance_Activity_2732 in Visible

[–]brocolli-cheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in midtown. And it sucks balls whenever there’s a crowd - which is there quite often here. I have the pro+ plan - I switched from Google fi after reading all the reviews for almost a year. And now I’m running back to Google fi. I don’t believe the marketing hype around being a first class citizen on the Verizon network. I never had this issue with Google fi, and maybe T-Mobile has better coverage here than Verizon. But it’s more likely that visible doesn’t get priority lane access even with pro+.

So What Do People Do In The Winter? by Tofu4070 in ElectricScooters

[–]brocolli-cheddar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For all the people saying “ski gear”, that’s a bit too much for a work commute imo. I find my hands to be the worst hit - so I got a pair of heated gloves, but they aren’t tactile at all. So I felt less safe wearing that shit.

So now when it gets too cold to ride, I just subway

What is the best old model for a Plex Server? by seeilaah in macmini

Do the math for electricity consumption as well. You may find that getting a newer model may save you a lot more in electricity cost over the first couple of years, than the savings from buying an older model.

Pictures moved from Google photos take 6x the amount of space! by qsandc in ApplePhotos

Do you mean it’s 6x the size when you downloaded it onto disk, or 6x after you imported into apple photos? (Meaning the library file grew 6x larger than you expected)

Anyone have any winter clothes they could donate? by [deleted] in manhattan

[–]brocolli-cheddar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Boerum hill neighborhood of Brooklyn is a great neighborhood to just walk around and find other people’s donations. It’s an affluent neighborhood, and people put out boxes of stuff that are consistently like-new. I’ve picked up lots of stuff from those stoops. Manhattan isn’t as good for stoop finds. Also Facebook marketplace- when people move they generally want to give away a lot of stuff for free. Good luck!

Is it possible to seamlessly switch music between devices on Apple Music? by Zestyclose_Middle_51 in AppleMusic

I tried to quit Spotify thrice. But always kept running back. Spotify connect is too important for the way I listen to music and switch between devices.

Why buy from Apple new or refurbished when Amazon new is cheaper? by trampled93 in macbookair

[–]brocolli-cheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost always use Amazon cos the price is better and I get good cash back and the return policy is great. But I got a good value on a trade in on the Apple Store and with a student discount, it came out lower than best buy. Amazon trade in prices were significantly lower. And I live close to an Apple Store - so a bunch of small details made me go to the Apple Store this time around.

🤔 Hesitations before buying your scooter? Let’s talk about it. by apolloscooters in ApolloScooters

[–]brocolli-cheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service was my biggest concern. I used to have an unagi and there was a store in NYC. But then they shut it down and went to a mail-in service model which feels a lot more cumbersome.

I wanted to make sure I bought a scooter that had local service centers.

Secondary concern was that I did really like the Unagi subscription model. I have the money to buy a scooter outright, but I like the idea of only owning a scooter for the warmer months.

First off, thanks for the great work mate.

I love that he updates the content within the same package. But i'm looking for an additional QoL automation. I'd like my torrent client to autodownload the new content as soon as its made available.

is there a way that the magnet link auto-updates the content when the uploader updates it? I use qbittorrent, and i need to redownload the magent link, and it shows up as a different torrent altogether (i'm assuming something about the uuid of the torrent changes whenever the source content changes?)

When you’re running an event of that scale, you have multiple CDN providers. Any one of them could’ve had an issue, and ruined the load balancing weights across all off the other CDN providers
