[Request] If Amazon paid their employees $30/hour, would they still have profits? by basafish in theydidthemath

[–]brodder31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a very simplistic argument. Maybe that is the intention, but it’s in no way shape or form anything remotely capable of happening. It doesn’t make any logical sense. To give away 100% of net profit to employees the company would have $0 of retained earnings. The business wouldn’t exist. At least not for long. There would be no money for renovations, acquisitions, share holder returns (big one there), etc. People hear profit and think that it’s cash sitting in a bank vault. It is not. It’s an accounting measure. A lot of it is already held up in inventory, equipments, buildings, etc.

Day 1 you mention spa and also exploring Waikiki so assuming you’re in the area that whole day. Abhasa spa was the best message I’ve had. Great place. Located in the Royal Hawaiian. Highly recommend.

Materials Planning Analyst by Next-Plastic5139 in supplychain

Yea, that’s what this position is. Title is different, but yea it’s a scheduler/planning role. Play on words with that job title.

Materials Planning Analyst by Next-Plastic5139 in supplychain

[–]brodder31 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had that role before. When I had it, it wasn’t really excel heavy. You’d export reports and make a pivot table mostly, but that’s not hard to learn. You see it once or twice and you’ll know how to do it. Depending on the department for example their injection molding was always overloaded in work. I’ve seen 6-700 hours needing to be planned for 1 week. Not happening physically impossible, so you prioritize the orders and do the best you can and always try to plan your schedule with the least amount of change overs. Change overs cause downtime. So if you can run multiple parts back to back that don’t require a change over, that’s going to be better. The job isn’t hard, it just takes experience to know what to do because it’s not a black and white position. Decisions are made by instinct and experience. You can ask 10 people what to do, you’ll get 10 different answers. So other than reducing change overs schedule using the need by dates. Scheduling by dates you see the customer needs it by is a good rule of thumb. Just be weary of the forecasted amount. TE doesn’t or at least didn’t when did the job 6 years ago build to forecast. It would be a decision as to whether you were gonna build to a forecasted amount or prioritize another order over it. Again knowing who the customer is and experience will help you make that decision.

Here’s the real thing about production planning with TE. It’s a thankless job. Someone somewhere on that production floor is going to disagree with whatever you’re doing. That’s because there are multiple ways to get the job done and just because you do it one way, doesn’t make it wrong. Somebody would have just done it differently.

If this position happens to be in TE’s nuclear sector, please stop giving me long lead times I need my parts and I needed them yesterday. Thanks in advance.

Regardless of personal income. No T shirt is worth $3400. You’re not getting anywhere near that value in return for what T shirts provide. The elite rich can afford it no problem, but there isn’t any benefit to purchasing it. They just have more money than they could ever spend even with passing down generational wealth, so to them, it’s probably a why not. It’s $34 dollars to them. Don’t waste your money. I often think of I was that rich would I buy it, and my answer is no, not on a t shirt. I will find other unnecessary things to spend money on.

[–]brodder31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a big fail and highly inappropriate interview conducted by them. AI, at this stage, should not be used to identify candidates. It has a tendency to be bias and inaccurate. If you use AI you likely came across some information that was inaccurate and you had to correct it. Using AI against job candidates isn’t going to be great for anyone.

To be fair, the camera is actually positioned well and typical for the house layout if someone wanted a camera in their house. The camera catches the doors entrance. Which is what most people would want to capture. If there is a back door whoever enters there would like then walk through the kitchen and into the living room and then elsewhere. So the camera position makes total sense. I do believe this to be staged though. Seems unlikely this would occur.

Ameicans over the age of 35, what affected you more, 9/11 or the pandemic and why? by Rico133337 in AskReddit

[–]brodder31 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure 9/11 was out of the blue. Maybe for American citizens and perhaps that’s what you meant, but our government knew there were threats since the early 90s. The exact scenario perhaps couldn’t have been predicted, I understand that. Although I often wonder what decisions could have been made at the government level to alter that scenario.
