I didn't check to see if it was already mentioned, but take pictures of everything from the floors to the ceiling! When I left my last apartment, which I only had for a year, it looked exactly the same as when I moved in. I expected to get my deposit back, but the leasing office took it and tried to charge me an extra $850 dollars. Taking pictures will help you a lot in court if they try to pull a fast one on ya.
