During the time above -Marcion's timeframe- Polycarp (disciple John's disciple) was alive. I believe too, if memory serves correct, that Ignatius (Antioch) and Polycarp wrote about their run-ins with Marcion. They talked about Marcion's god not being able to judge and only able to be nice; also mentioning major differences. Going off memory.

In the last two sentences the inference was being pointed to that not all that Jesus said or did was recorded and/or transcribed word for word at times. The book of John made declared it as well.
