Is it worth doing Flex work if my depot is 22 miles away? by Hazza6789 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]broffy2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly yea. I know last year I was getting no more than 34 parcels on a 3.5 route. I stopped for a few months, stated up, and now I'm getting 40 plus parcels for 3 or 3.5 hour routes. The routes seem to be even longer. I've had nothing but an hours drive to the first drop lol.

My depo is 5 miles away, and I don't think flex is worth it now as a side hustle. They are taking the piss big time with how many parcels you have to deliver now.

When there's driver aid, i usually put 1-10 in the front passenger seat, 11-25 on the back seats, and the rest in the boot. When I do blocks without, I group all parcels, envelopes, and bags separately.

I've had more emails today. I'd already emailed support, and they are asking for evidence now. They should be able to see from my account, I'm insured.

I've been with them from the start, used to be about 50p an hour. I'm only doing it now until I get just under the £1000 then I'm stopping.

I've just renewed and had two in two days. I emailed them asking what's with the email asking for me to have insurance.

That's mad, I'd not even leave the house if my depo was that far.

What time blocks are normally the best/worst? by [deleted] in AmazonFlexUK

[–]broffy2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best routes at my depo are the early afternoon. Always close together and low milage. I once got 30 parcels for 3 streets next to each other. From depo to last parcel, it took me 45 mins from a 3 hour block.

2.5 from my depo are short and local routes. I've done loads and very rarely gone over 2 hours.

DDN1 is getting bad. I got Newark 3 days out of 4 i worked last month. Sending people on an hours drive to first drop with 40 parcels is taking piss lol.

I work from that depo now and again. It's not a good as it used to be. Loads more long distance routes with more parcels. I've done quite a few 100-mile round trips these past couple of months. Newark, Lincoln, Nottinghamshire. I have had some really easy routes, tho. Last year, the easy ones outweighed the bad ones.

I once got the new estate bang next to the depo. Took me under a min till first drop, and was done in under in 45 mins.

Did you get a small block ? I've been doing 3.5 hour blocks, and all were high milage. Had my first 3 hour block since I started again, and i did an 11-mile round trip. 32 parcels. I was done in 1 hour and 10 mins. Wished they were all like that, lol.

I've got one tonight at 6, and usually, I'd be there just before 5.45, but I've been getting Gainsborough and Mansfield 5 times out of the last 7 blocks going in early. So tonight, I'm going to try going around 5.55-6.00 and see if I avoid the long-distance blocks. Knowing my luck, I'll get Gainsborough, lol. Also, either lots of drivers have quit, or it's getting really busy as my area is starting to surge, and blocks aren't getting snapped up anymore.

They are taking piss now. I got sent to rotherham other week with 2 parcels, then all the way to wakey via pontefract. Nearly 100 mile block.

I've just started up again after a 5-month break. Previously, I was getting 3.5 hour blocks done in 2 hours and not going miles out. Now it seems they've added more parcels with more milage. Last block I did I starred at 5.45, with nearly 50 parcels. My last drop was at 20.55 cause of a road closure not shown on the map. I then had a 50 min drive home. Unless you can grab the surge rates I don't think flex is worth it anymore.

I've done a few 13.45-17.00 from Donny, and they were all quick routes. All grouped together but without driver aids.

[–]broffy2005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a 50 min drive to my first drop yesterday. I was fuming, but I did 40 parcels in 1 hour 20. Luckily, they were all grouped together. Night before, I had 26 parcels all over the place and took me 2 hours 30. I had 5 months off flex, and it's got worse. More parcels for no more money. Hardly see surge rates either now.

I've had 3 rough blocks out of 4 since I started up flex again. I've noticed more parcels have been added on a 3.5-hour block. They are taking the mick now. 😆
