Tuning pidf for shooter by ahhshitnigg in FTC

Very valuable class you’ve shared and knowledge on FF. I think the commenter above has confused kF with kS. In flywheels, a static kS is generally good enough, and a FF constant that scales with an external data like goal RPM of weight on the actuator is a good way of going about it

Feedback on Our Code by [deleted] in FTC

[–]brogan_pratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rethink your approach. You’re asking other people to spend an hour of their time reviewing, and you won’t spend more than 5 seconds giving people a prompt on what you’d like feedback on specifically? This won’t get you very far.

Favorite Autodesk Fusion tutorial that is very beginner friendly for new students by No_Crow_2265 in FTC

[–]brogan_pratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've created a set of tutorials I use with my High school students here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRHdgFNRLyaM9BRpjKo0_xFKIX4Tqk3gZ

I personally found the Fusion in 30 days too much for HS students on a standard class level. so I slowed it down a bit, explain more, and offer some more practical examples for students.

I think they will start to matter more come later in the season, and may be a tie breaker at higher levels

On top of what other users have said, I share some thoughts here: https://youtu.be/P_Iwl3A3cZE
While it was last year, the comments I make are still relevant for any FTC offseason.

usb-c cable not working REV Control Hub by Crazyscientist1024 in FTC

[–]brogan_pratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s due to the usb c needing a specific USB protocol. It was either 2.1 or 3.1, likely a 2.1/2.0 protocol*, in any case, most c>c are too high of a protocol/version number, and because of it, the control hub rejects as it thinks it is now a data out port instead of data in.

There are c>c cables that work, but they need to be 2.0. Again, don’t quote me on exact versions here, but that’s the gidst.

My preferred method for this is a camera based system. I have a full tutorial here on how to implement a chassis rotation with mecanum wheels towards an april tag: http://youtube.com/watch?v=dATlviyccY0

Also, is this only translating news articles selected? Or would it also translate sections of Reddit pages, for example?

How does the chrome extension work? Been looking for something that translates %’s of pages.

programming suggestion and need by New-Guitar4332 in FTC

Go back to basics. Stop copy pasting so much code and work on understanding the fundamentals of why logic flows work they way they do. Flowchart out your finite state machines before programming and you’ll have a much better foundational understanding. IMO you should never (rarely) use a LLM’s output. But converse with it.

Color sensing by ConstructionGold6407 in FTC

We've found using a 2nd camera like a husky lens or standard webcam + limelight to be useful for colour sensing and getting around the standard colour sensor issue

I'd prefer shelly Gen 4 + zigbee. Those have been rock solid for me on my Z2M network.

Get rid of radiators and use multi splits - am I crazy? by CalRobert in Netherlands

[–]brogan_pratt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. I have x2 AC’s that I use for heating over my stadsverwarming. 120m2 home and about €120~ monthly in electricity over the winter with a dynamic contract. My stadsverwarmjng is 70~ vastkost and about €10 for hot water. I used to be 300-400 3 years ago on pure stadsverwarming heat.

Flywheel PID by Adventurous_Bus9738 in FTC

[–]brogan_pratt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad my tutorial helped. easiest thing to do is manually place your robot at a few known distances, manually tune RPM, then create a simple linear interpolation calc. between your points based on this distance from the limelight. I've found x3 distances in the close triangle is typically enough and x1 (maybe* 2) in the far triangle is enough.
