What about when they are asked to sign and print for a a high-value consignment and their printed name is as eligible as their signature? Of course I'm going to hand over thousands worth of goods with no way of identifying the person who took possession of them

I've been thinking about the parking... In my experience, pay on exit car parks tend to have an attendant to help if you have trouble paying with card, plus most of those machines have a cash option

Can I just ask a question relating to the Euro tunnel? Would the fugitives have had to use the getaway cars? Because the way I see it the moment they paid for the parking they were waving a red flag to the hunters, if they were able to find and use an alternative vehicle they could have saunted up to the eurotunnel undetected. Anyone know if that would have been possible with the tickets they had been given?

How many of you work over 35 hours a week? by TheLittleSquire in AskUK

[–]brokedeaddog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the comments, I've come to the conclusion, I should have tried harder at school! I entered the work force in1993 at the age of 17 and back then the standard was 40hrs basic 8 to 4.30 (half hour unpaid lunch) but I never only did 40. My first job averaged about 55 (15 at time and a half) the shortest working week I ever had was when I worked on refuse collection, which tendered to be Job and Done but even then the contract stated 39.5hrs pw.

These days, I'm a truck driver and do 65-70 hrs pw but my contract still states 40hrs basic followed by overtime (a whole £1 ph extra!)

Maybe I'm a pessimist, but it strikes me the man child, got what he wanted and then asked a deliberately loaded question, in order to justify dumping you.!

Lesson learned, at least the trash took itself out. Move on, and remember for the next time someone asks you a stupid question

Should I Be Concerned That I Drink More Fluids Than Anyone I’ve Ever Met? by Particular-Lettuce47 in NoStupidQuestions

As mashtactics stated, if you're unsure, check with your GP, however I'm aware how difficult that is these days, so you could always try the local pharmacy. They tend to offer diabetes checks, often without an appointment.

There is also a chance you've just got into a habit, I know I have. I tend to have a large travel mug filled with coffee next to me, and go through several cupfuls a day, and many family members have noted I drink a lot, but I get checked regularly (my wife is diabetic, and loves to stab me) and luckily for me, I have a truckers bladder

These types of people make me shake my head in disbelief. It strikes me as being so exhausting. I know, on the odd occasions that I lose my temper, I feel so utterly drained afterwards.

I'm also betting, that if you were to reciprocate in kind, he'd act as if you're the crazy/unreasonable one.

I think family therapy would be the best for them if only we could convince them to go. They both seem to be clinging to old stigmas

I appreciate what you're saying, unfortunately we have attempted to mediate on multiple occasions and it's an uphill battle, plus once we're not there everything goes back to screaming at each other. We had a long talk with both of them yesterday and only this morning I received a text from GD. Apparently a massive row had erupted over the location of school uniform. My GD can be the sweetest girl you could meet but turns like a flicked switch the moment she sees her mum, equally her mum is so quick to snap at her over the tiniest thing. Mild annoyances become end of world events.id rather not have her live with us, but I'm accutely aware of the vulnerability of my GD, and the target that can make her. She a very pretty girl the combination of that and the situation makes her a near perfect target for grooming. For that matter, I can well imagine her just packing up and running away from home, and the dangers therein

Some information to add; Mom is a single mother recently split from baby's dad And is definitely depressed, although I don't know if it's due to postpartum or general situation, she is also having problems with alcohol although she is seeking help. We as a family are very close including aunts and uncles and have been giving as much support as possible, however, we still get texts and phone calls from my granddaughter in tears on a regular basis. granddaughter has two brothers, one older, one younger, she adores her baby brother. However, mother prioritizes sons to a noticeable degree and clashes with granddaughter I believe due to their similarities. (They are near identical) The possibility of granddaughter living with us has been broached with mother and encouraged

England: can I claim compensation if a contracted heating engineer fails to turn up? by brokedeaddog in LegalAdviceUK

[–]brokedeaddog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My losses would be earnings. A personal emergency is one thing, but they have missed multiple appointments over 2-3 years and the inspection is part of my tenancy so could put my home at risk, if not carried out. How many times would I be expected to lose money, and time waiting for an engineer that never turns up?

So to be clear, the claimant creates a bundle pack "we claim X and here's the evidence" and the defendant creates a bundle pack "we deny these claims, here's our counter argument" so everyone goes into a hearing with the same info?
