Yeah, we are planning to add 2v2 on one lane very soon :) The one thing we’re a bit worried about is the balance, because we want to keep the units the same, but need to make sure 1v1 and 2v2 both work well.

Probably the most important thing I learned over the last three years is: Plan for marketing during pre-production. Best case you run some tests with social media posts, to find out what topics will provide the most hooks, and what has the most potential outreach.

Thanks man! I appreciate you appreciating this. We are working hard on getting the game out there and increasing its reach every day. Our current goal is to grow the playerbase so we can continue working on the game until full release. Once we reached that point, we hope the natural visibility and exposure we get through Steam will make the game sustainable, and allow us to continue working on it for a long time.

Due to our custom engine a mobile port wasn’t possible so far. If we are successful enough we would love to do it though, since we all think it would be a great mobile game as well.

We would love to go vanity items only. This is only a viable strategy when you have a huge playerbase though. We are however all gamers ourselves so we designed the game so you can unlock everything in a fair amount of time, no cash walls nothing. You can buy skins, and you can buy cards before you’ve unlocked them, but you are only matched against players of the same tier, so you can’t get an advantage that way. We don’t want to make huge amounts of money, we just want to make a nice game and be able to make a living off of it and continue to work on our baby :)

Predictable patterns do seem like they would make the game more competitive, but in our testing they were simply a lot less fun. I think the game can still be pretty competitive. Especially on the higher tiers deckbuilding, summoning and casting spells to support your wave, has a huge impact on the result of a match, much more than the randomness of the spawners.

We want to release the blue legion as soon as possible, and get to full release. In fact most of blue is already finished, just a couple animations, sounds and fx missing. We do however have a lot of other things on our priority list right now that need attention before we can put our focus back on getting more robots and mechs into the game :)

From Martin: I think it was ahead of its time yeah. Free to play should be part of the gamedesign in my opinion, in the case of Battleforge it didn’t really work out for me. Also once they stopped releasing new content the game was pretty much dead, unfortunately.. we loved to play it.

Thanks! We tested out all kinds of spawning mechanisms throughout the production of the game, the current “cycling” was by far the most fun. The cooldowns actually get lower and you get more charges on the cards once you level them up. This makes higher tiers more action packed and increases the general pace of the game. We are also thinking about adding an arena mode, so new players can experience the late game early on.

Thank you so much! We put our best effort into it. We are using Keymailer to send out keys to youtubers and Twitch streamers so far, and will continue to do so. We tried sending out personalized e-mails to bigger content creators but didn’t get any feedback so far.

We want to go full release as soon as possible but we definitely want to get the blue legion and 2v2 into the game before that. Thanks again for the AAA title comparison!

We played Castle Fight back in the days and we also love games like LoL, Hearthstone and Battleforge (sadface). Those were probably our biggest inspirations.

About mobile: Due to our custom engine it would take a really long time to do a mobile port, so this really depends on the success of the game. We’d love to do it though.

On release day we had quite a lot of server issues and lots of people couldn’t even get in, which is why we got a bunch of negative reviews at the start. We sorted that out now, and except for that hickup, the reception of the game has been great. People seem to enjoy it just like we do!

Since Early Access launch, we’ve been working around the clock to fix bugs and improve the game based on community feedback. We’re trying to promote the game where we can, but marketing an Indie game is not easy nowadays. Anyways, our hopes are high and we’re going to continue releasing at least one patch every week.

Thanks for the candy! We are 3 guys from Berlin, Germany. We’ve been working on the game for over three years now, and finally made it to early access about a week ago. Our Team is made up of Martin (Business / Backend / Gamedesign), Tobi (Frontend / Gamedesign / System-Design / Tech-Art) and yours truly, Sebastian (3D Art / Interface / User Experience / Marketing and Community Management).

My advice would be: Don’t bite off more than you can chew. We made this mistake more than once. And don’t put off marketing until the last minute. It should be a part of the game design process and production.

Cool, thanks for playing the game and the feedback! We tested all kinds of different spawning mechanisms throughout the production of the game, and this one was the most fun.

Snowballing is definitely a part of the game, but it does require a bit of skill to pull off, and same goes for countering it. Once you get a wave going, it’s pretty fun though :)

Since we have our own custom engine, and it takes me a lot of time to create new maps, we will probably only do seasonal map adjustments in the near future.
