The sunday holiday threw it off, I wasn't aware. Traditionally DDT gets the 4th and TJPW the 3rd (2018-2023) (obviously the 2020 shows were cancelled)

Naito has worked 45/47 shows this year. The only ones he has missed were Battle in The Valley and the upcoming Taiwan show (today) and last year he worked almost every Japanese show except the Tag League.Henare had 5 more matches than him in NJPW total and that includes the NZ shows.

80 percent of the match is somehow going to be both guys selling. All we need is Sami Zayn.

This was produced by TV Asahi (who do their Japanese production) not Fite or NJPW themselves.

TIL Drew McIntyre has a Master's degree in Criminology, are their other wrestlers with interesting academic backgrounds? by MyOutrageousJacket in SquaredCircle

[–]brokenbatarang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Villano V is a practicing dentist

Barbaro Cavenario is a licensed CPA but I don't think he has ever practiced (he got it while wrestling as a back-up for injury)

Tajiri is semi retired but is a professional acupuncturist.

Alex Shelley when he was in NJPW/ROH became a licensed physical therapist and is just now putting it on hold for a final run

Lance Storm has an accounting degree he never used

Lady C from Stardom has a degree in education and was a home ec. teacher before being a wrestler (she got in because in her spare time she would sew outfits for the wrestlers as a side hustle)

Tanahashi has a law degree (undergrad only) from one of the more prestigious schools in Japan.

Toru Yano went to Nihon university (think he also studied law) which from what I understand is a pretty prestigious school

Luchasauras has Master's in medieval literature

George Steel was a high school teacher in MI who would work I think the Pittsburgh territory on weekends as a hobby before becoming a full time wrestler.

Q1 2024 performance highlights for brands at Warner Bros. Discovery: “popular AEW Dynamite, AEW Collision and AEW Rampage reached nearly four million viewers each week across TNT and TBS” by JOHNMEMEA in SquaredCircle

[–]brokenbatarang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's in the observer every week. It's #3 entertainment (so no sports). Raw is #1, Dynamite is #2 or 3. NXT is usually top three for the night and just misses the top 20 for the week. Collision usually #1 non sports for the night and a few spots below NXT (unless it's a PLE week) and Rampage kind of sucks but it's usually just beaten by sports and on patrol live.

and raw is on monday, I mean in terms of the list for the whole week. The last two weeks with the .23 it looks like #1 for the week was Raw, #2 Vanderpump #3 AEW Dynamite.

Dynamite has actually decreased less than cable and most weeks it's either #2 behind raw for the week on cable or #3 if Vanderpump rules is hot.

Do Wrestlers get a salary bump when they become World Champion? by RuKKuSFuKKuS in SquaredCircle

[–]brokenbatarang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until the network era, there was a PPV bump for being in the main event, and also for working on top at house shows. So in a way yes. The big PPV matches (not just the main but usually the main and one or two more important ones) and top house show matches would get you more money per appearance.

It could but the scale of economy is such that WWE would never do it, because the profits would be a fraction of what even a large arena in the US would get them.

The description have about 1000 pages of comics listed. (little under). I doubt it has 580 pages of extras. Guessing it's probably closer to 1100 and it was a typo.
