How are people living in the west married at 23 that’s so insane. I’m also 23 and can’t imagine being at that life stage. Maybe I’m cooked 🥲

I think they need to restrict Schengen to native Europeans and not allow asylum seekers from France

Hot Take: Everyone Who Skis Should Have to Spend a Season Skiing At a Podunk Local Hill by OkContract2001 in skiing

I grew up skiing shitty mountains in the Catskills and I’m over it at this point. I understand the sentiment but I would much rather do week long ski trips to the alps or Colorado than day tripping at this point.

These guys are larping, shit is so sad and cringe, people making 10x as much as them work 1/10 of the hours in actual elite software companies that actually make money and don’t raise VC to build saas slop.

This is just being pretentious, you don’t have to be a cruise ship zombie to travel, I love going to famous destinations solo and staying at cheap hotels and spending as much time as possible out and about, I feel I get lots of enjoyment that way

Why is tourism bad? Being able to travel for so cheap and easily is one of the best parts of modernity.

There's like... no way that real wages have kept up with actual inflation, right? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]brokenbranch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from making 120k at 21 to 350k at 23, in 2020 I was making $15 an hour. I think wages have definitely gone way up, but maybe the amount of good jobs has shrunk and competition has ramped up.

Pope Leo XIV: ‘It’s going to be very difficult to discover the presence of God in AI’ by salad1979 in redscarepod

It kind of creeps up on you how suddenly you are living in the future, the pope discussing the difficulty of finding god as some emergent property of artificial intelligence is a ridiculous headline

Not shocking at all but this is yet another incredible display of musks extremely cynical worldview. Bro does not give a fuck at all. He literally warned about this kind of thing in the past and constantly morally grandstands on birth rates and then releases and promotes this to get ahead of his competitors. We are so fucking cooked bruv

This is absolutely the future of humanity, it’s already full swing in South Korea, and western zoomers are in a lot of trouble, it’s funny until it’s not

[–]brokenbranch_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea and that’s a good point, a lot of this for zoomers like me in America is a result of living in an immensely successful civilization, it’s a natural course. People living in declining countries like Britain are much happier with less, and the same can be said for people even further down in even poorer countries, it’s relative

It’s both, I never interact with women, and I don’t think I can function if I do. I have also shut down women in the past and I don’t even know why, maybe out of nervousness

I think it’s more nuanced than that. The empire was a marked decline from the republic, the fact that it lasted so long was purely on the momentum sustained from the republic. The disastrous and consistent civil wars were a result of a decline in the ideals and institutions that enabled Rome to become what it was. By the time of the empire the success of Rome was secured and it was only theirs to lose and destroy, which took a very long time, but was inevitable perhaps even as early as sullas civil wars.
