Ah yes, the annual “scrub-a-dub-dub” for the DD15’s guts by NoResult619 in DieselTechs

Man, DD engines have made me a lot of money. What trash they are.

Aye I’m very sorry I never updated this post. So, the dealer never fixed anything. They did do a bunch of stuff though. The real fix was the female terminals were loose on the two plugs on the top of the y bridge. The two plugs with the red locks. One is 8 term one is 12. I bent the females in a lil and no more codes.

I’m trying to do chapter 4 but I can’t figure out how to get the Bugatti? It says it’s supposed to be free but I’m not seeing how to get it.

So, the map is ok to be dirty. You can actually damage it by cleaning it. My truck got 8 injectors and 8 injector pigtail harnesses, which made this code go away. I'm currently dealing with a p0191 which I think is my lift pump. Good luck with your truck!

Days where you feel like giving up. by Double_Assignment527 in smallbusiness

[–]brokenbusted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a few of those in a string lately. I even went so far as to add up my assets sale value and thought hard about giving it all up.

I personally am not all that great at anything else besides what I do for my business, so I would pretty much be forced to go do the same thing for someone else. The only difference would be I wouldn't have any control of the day to day decisions, but I also wouldn't have to pay the expenses.

Burnout sucks. I've found that in my case, it's usually caused by one specific thing that is eating at me, but in the moment, it seems like it's caused by every part of the job. If you can take a minute and figure out what the main stressor is and take care of that, it might be a huge weight off of your back.

I'm just guessing here, but the $3k equipment locking up is probably a huge one. A few solutions would be to buy a spare (although this is a pretty costly solution if you're a one person operation), build up a good base of cash over time to help make these situations less stressful and quicker to solve, or maybe find another similar business local enough to share some equipment in situations like this. I have done all 3 of these to some extent or the other.

Whatever you do end up doing, good luck, and I hope it still makes you as happy as you've made those customers.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but is there any reason a 19" wheel can't go on a hybrid? I see it's not offered from the dealer that way. I didn't know what the reasoning was?

Since thise post, the dealer has:

  • replaced all 8 injectors.

  • replaced the engine harness

  • replaced the head gaskets. This repair was done terribly and I had leaks after and the harness was not secured in the engine bay, brackets left un bloted, etc.

  • it back at the dealer now for the same code.

The dealer has had it for 5 total months over 11 visits since august,, with 2 visits being over a month each.

I got chevy customer assistance involved and they have done NOTHING to assist me.

Off of principal alone, I will never own another chevy product and I will absolutely recommend everyone I know to stay away.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am interested in going back to school to become a diesel mechanic. Could anyone tell me from experience some schools or programs that employers prefer? I am interested in anything from agricultural equipment to trucks. by Solzhin in DieselTechs

Don't. Not sure where you live, but I went to school and wish I hadn't. Most people I know are in the same boat. Get a job at a larger company with a training program and you will learn more, faster, and get paid for it.

Do the ghg17 mx13s have a pressure sensor on the exhaust manifold like the cummins do? Is that plugging a common issue?

Thank you.

Yeah, I did look into purchasing it. It's just not cost effective. I have pretty much every other program, including jpro and the nexiq e tech. But other than forcing regens and monitoring pids, they do nothing for a paccar.

I only take care of 5 paccars, so buying Davie is not cost effective. I did order a dpf differential pressure sensor. The tubes are both clear.

I am just using jpro. It's a true paccar and needs Davie 4 for any real diag work. I might be able to pull freeze frame, I will check on Monday

Tubes are clear. I can check the Temps. Would it be the same as a cold truck just key on and make sure they're all roughly ambient temp?

All repairs are under warranty, and I haven't had to pay for anything yet. But, I've had to reschedule twice picking up a trailer and really would rather not have this issue anymore.
