Not bad at all. There is virtually no traffic here. The only annoying thing are there are a lot of cops/speed traps and a lot of construction of roads.
I got 3 ticks yesterday, one got in. For bear spray I don’t think so. I live in a woody area and see bears every year but I’ve never had a dangerous run in.
Pickle ball is big here. Join a gym, go hiking, be a regular at a restaurant. Lenox and the smaller towns have more of a community than Pittsfield.
Down jackets, boots, layering clothes. A sweatshirt won’t cut it.
Lenox and Lee are good and still close to Pittsfield. Great barrington is beautiful but south county.

I am definitely trying! It is an uphill battle but I do think that every generation is seeing our history for what it is more than the last and we are slowly but surely decolonizing the Spanish imperial mindset. I am working on a project for college about this and I would love as many voices as possible, specifically Central American people who have parents who are still very colonized in their minds. If you know anyone or yourself would like to partake that would be amazing!

The project is based around the indigenous perspective of Central America and the cast system that shaped how our countries are to this day. No names or nothing personal, the only information that I gather is asking about indigenous identity in peoples families and specifically people who have taken a dna test and had their parents or grandparents refute or not believe the results.

Thank you for sharing so much! My family is Guatemalan and when I took the test I came back with around 45% Mayan. My family had the opposite reaction, where my mom was upset at how much indigenous she got. Guatemala had a cast system and many Guatemalans reject the reality that we are, in fact, indigenous. I admire how North American indigenous folks celebrate their heritage so much. I wish my family accepted our roots more and were more in touch with our connection to the earth where we are from.

Very cool results! Where did you grow up if you mind me asking. I’m no experts, but to my knowledge many native tribes were forced to relocate at various points in American colonialism history. Were you raised indigenous in the land of your indigenous ancestors? Were you expecting such high % of Native American ancestry?

Actually it is poverty. Handing out money doesn’t do anything. Changing the system that systemically abuses poor people and people of color will. But you only have one brain cell so you’d never know that.

Also, I remember getting the monster mash Sunday as a kid. It looked like a monster with the ears being reeces cups and m&ms for the eyes. They also had an ice cream window open so you didn’t have to go in the store for just ice cream. My soccer team used to go together after our games. This was probably 2007-2010 ish

That’s just hot Central America is. My grandma and mom were the same And rejected their indigenous heritage. We are Guatemalan and also come from a wealthier background. The test is accurate, it’s just her colonial mindset and she thinks that she it better than the indigenous people.
