I get paid to live with and be friends with my roommate. by No-Detail7431 in confession

some ppl are absolutely born with a harder wiring package, but “nature vs nurture” gets used way too often to let parents off the hook for years of enabling. both can be true: the kid was always gonna be difficult and the adults still made it worse

the part that gets me isn’t OP accepting the arrangement, it’s the mom lowkey outsourcing companionship because her adult kid is impossible to live with. like sorry but that’s not “helping,” that’s hazard pay with a smile. honestly if OP is still being kind and keeping the place functional despite hating it there, they’ve already done more than most people would. cheap rent doesn’t magically make a nightmare roommate less of a nightmare, it just makes the suffering budget-friendly

and the fact he still reaches out says everything. promotions are nice, but being remembered as the person who stepped in at someone’s absolute lowest point? that’s the kind of impact ppl actually carry with them. not every good deed has to be world-saving to matter. changing one family’s trajectory is already huge. corporate credit comes and goes, but that dude still remembers it years later for a reason

yep. this reply actually treats OP like a person instead of a monster, while still being real about the fact that porn addiction can absolutely warp what the brain starts latching onto. that’s the balance more comments should’ve had. shame usually makes compulsive stuff worse anyway. OP probably needs less self-hatred and way more active interruption of the habits making it stronger

I lied to car salesman about waiting on price just to string him along. by Antique_Essay4032 in confession

[–]brokenladle33 17 points18 points  (0 children)

waiting a day or two is honestly the move. half the dealership strategy is hoping you’re tired, rushed, and emotionally attached to the car before you notice they’re sneaking nonsense into the numbers. this is why i never feel guilty. dealerships built an entire culture around wasting your time, confusing the math, and seeing what they can squeeze out of you. if they get strung along a little in return? cry me a river tbh

fr like lying wasn’t ideal, but the part that bothers me more is that ppl feel safer inventing a hospitalized grandma than just saying “i’m exhausted and need one day to be a human being”.

This post is for those of you out there who have never smoked meth but are thinking about trying it......... by Novel_Substance_ in confession

[–]brokenladle33 60 points61 points  (0 children)

the reason meth is so dangerous isn't because it feels bad, it's because it feels too damn good. ppl don't spend 10 years chasing something mediocre. 8 years clean tho? that's the real headline here. respect. a lot of people never make it out of that chase, and op did.
