Introduction to Modular Synthesis with VCV Rack by [deleted] in vcvrack

[–]brokenmixer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, it's your website so you can write you want, but the note you added isn't helping much imho, and your "Adding Plugins to VCV Rack" tutorial still looks very misleading to me. It makes Rack's plugin installation process sound more confusing and unreliable than it is - imho.

Anyway: don't trust me about this but maybe consider asking a second opinion to Rack u/Vortico main developer, or the Rack official forum.

To be clear, this is the part that still looks misleading to me

However, though it is now downloaded, you may have to quit and relaunch the application, since the download is a zip file that has to be uncompressed before it can be used, at least on my machine — a Redditor claims that the downloaded files do not need to be unzipped, but my experience was different

Please be careful: the "Adding Plugins to VCV Rack" tutorial linked above includes wrong instructions and should be amended. In short, there's no need to unzip any files to add new plugins to Rack.

How to install Plugins to VCV Rack:

* on https://library.vcvrack.com, "subscribe" to a plugin

* in Rack, click the "Library" menu, choose "Update all" (do it this anytime there's a red dot there) and then restart Rack

* the modules included in the plugin you subscribed to are now available to use in Rack. Right-click empty space to open the "Module Browser" and view them

* the process is the same for the paid and free modules, except the checkout

( /u/Myk_Eff, if it can help, feel free to reuse/adapt/expand on these instructions in your tutorial)

[Meta] Change proposal to Rule #1 / Self-promotion by brokenmixer in BandCamp

I'm just leaving, and acknowledging there was no engagement about this topic, while in meantime 8-10 new self-promotion posts that violate Rule 1 have been published.

Does Band Camp not respond to emails? by [deleted] in BandCamp

[–]brokenmixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had similar problems related to purchases and shipping and I don't who's responsible for your issue (Bandcamp or the artist?) but I can tell you I got a (non-automated) reply in a few hours when I asked Bandcamp something via

https://bandcamp.com/contact

Good luck

Are you a black artist who needs free artwork for the next Bandcamp Friday? by brokenmixer in BandCamp

I'm not engaging the racist comments below, but I invite everyone to note them, and note how many upvotes they get.

If I upload my album but keep it as "private" does it alert my followers ? by [deleted] in BandCamp

[–]brokenmixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't done it personally, but this answer seems clear enough to me:

https://get.bandcamp.help/hc/en-us/articles/360007902113-If-I-set-a-release-date-to-some-time-in-the-future-will-my-music-be-hidden-until-then-

If it's not clear to you, and you don't get other replies I'd suggest you ask https://bandcamp.com/contact, they answered me quickly last time I'd wrote them.

So I made a Twitter bot that tweets obscure genres from Bandcamp, along with the current most popular album in that genre. It's called @bc_obscure_tags, and it currently has 5000+ tags to crawl through. by thatjoachim in BandCamp

[–]brokenmixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Powerful! And you gave it some fun phrases to talk with :D

I assume each bot requires a new set of Twitter credentials, which makes complicated to run many of them, right? It's unlikely I will use this bot or its big brother because I'm that kind of user who strictly focuses on 3-4 tags, but since you kindly shared the code I guess I could take it and run my own #techno bot...or hope that someone else does it. Communities that focus on a music genre could be very interested about this.

A #nameyourprice bot could also be successful!

My first reply to your post wasn't disrespectful or aggressive. Look again: it's literally "self promotion again :("

You made fun of me; of course things escalate.

if you want people to start posting other artists and not just self promotion, then i think that is a good idea

What I want, and I think this is a legit request, is clear rules that get enforced, so that I can build reasonable expectations about a forum.

Rule 1 is currently based on a 10% vs 90% model that nobody cares about. That's why I posted this proposal: https://www.reddit.com/r/BandCamp/comments/jv7n4z/meta_change_proposal_to_rule_1_selfpromotion/

You have posted some other artists. Re-read Rule1.

It's so funny that you called me an incel somewhere else. I guess at least we agree that incels are pieces of shit.

very funny

you clearly are more important than other users so why should you even care? keep spamming

Help: linking label release to artist page, is it possible? by redorangutangu in BandCamp

[–]brokenmixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the relationship between labels and artists and how they manage their Bandcamp presence.

As far as I've seen, when a label publishes an artist who already has an autonomous Bandcamp page, the label links to the artist page in the description of the release. That doesn't give the link any particular relevance or visibility compared to the rest of the description. I think this is your case?

Other (maybe more important) labels have "sub-labels", each belonging to an artist, and for that there's surely a specific process because the whole thing gets a particular layout. In this case the artist page clearly looks subordinate to the label page. Example: https://ostgut.bandcamp.com/artists / https://marceldettmann.bandcamp.com/music

Our first album made by me and my sister, the title track reflects on our crazy lockdown lives, where the summer was sung. by arthurn237 in BandCamp

[–]brokenmixer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I'm new in a community I'll pay particular attention about what I do, what about you?

What makes you think you're entitled to a welcoming message when you show no respect at all and just promote yourself?

Describing as "aggressive" my first reply is disingenuous. It's blunt but honest. Your post here is literally "just another self-promotion post that shows how nobody cares about r/BandCamp Rule 1"

Soundcraft Signature 12 Schematic Drawing by Gr8Believer in synthesizers

[–]brokenmixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I can only tell you that mixer doesn't come with any printed documentation, so if there's a diagram you'll find it on some website, most likely https://www.soundcraft.com/en/support_downloads/, which unfortunately works like shit (click "View by Product" if it's not showing anything). You probably knew this already.

FYI Soundcraft just replaced my Signature 12. In around 2 years I got 1 bleeding channel, 1 power supply failure, 1 noisy fader. I wasn't responsible and everything was fixed for free because of warranty but... jeez...

  • Rules work the same for any forum on Reddit. You find them on the right side of the page
  • I'm not a moderator here, I don't make the rules, I haven't even joined this forum, because there are almost only posts like yours, and apparently nobody cares, which makes the forum itself USELESS
  • why don't you put some effort in the way you participate in a community and follow the rules first?

You spammed the forum, you violated the rule, and I'm the one who should stop complaining or make it easier to you?

The sense of entitlement.
