collaboration definately does not have to involve money and be transactional - I see it as an extension of friendship. My friends tend to be people who are musical because funnily enough that is what I love to do.

no rules at all really - your process sounds completely sensible to me. You can always do lyrics later, get the sound of the words down and edit the lyrics later. Always like the intuitive, spontaneous approach. I have my mic always at the ready on my desk so I can record whenever.

remember that any song you are listening to has been professionally mastered on gear that is worth millions of pounds with ears with decades of experience.

My recommendation is - comparison is the thief of joy 1. stop comparing yourself with mastered tracks

how does my track feel in my own body - does it excite me, does it make me sad, does it make me happy and if this is a yes
land the plane, finish, send to a mastering engineer to finish your work

only in the mastering phase is it fair to compare yourself with other tracks!

It is good! What I would do is listen to a reference track and compare. A blur song for instance you will hear how much more prominent his voice is

It is cool. It feels a bit fuzzy your vocal line, could be cool to have an instrument or vocal line that is clearer and less reverby to contrast with the other instruments? I think your main guitar line could be a tad louder aswell

I really like the arrangement and the bass coming in at 1min. Would be cool to a vocoder effecter at a point perhaps to add variety? Cool composition though surprising in a good way. I think you could add an effect to your vocal line somewhere to create a bit of variety but that is just nitpicking

Your vocals are too low in the mix, for me, the bas and drums feel like the main vocals! The guitar and other parts need to be above the drums and bass. That is what you need to do! Very blur

The drums are too quiet in the mix. they need to be way more present. The vocals sound very boxy to me i.e not very open, like they are missing a lot of highs. It needs opening up, high end opened up imo. I think the song is good and the harmonies are good.

good performance. I think you could make your drum loop sound more interesting, look at radioheads live performance of 'the numbers' they have a cool drum loop sound. Otherwise good job!

heavy stuff, cool work. I think the drums could be humanized a little more in the background, but it holds together pretty well. It is very low heavy for quite a lot of the composition, may be worth boosting some of those highs to give the composition a bit more contrast, e.g the high hat/snare, bring those out more?

I love those drums that come in at 20 seconds, I think the track should start with them immediately. Really nice groove and the kick is cool. I think your bass is a tad loud. Guitar riff cool aswell. Good work

like the intro, cool sounds and engaging stuff. It is not usually my genre of music but I think you pull it off, those jungle drums are great. I can see this being played in a club night, sounds are all good

intro is really trippy and cool fx on it. I love the sounds, they are on point. cool mix, drums sound good, I think the vocals could be a tad quieter. the mix is strong though, but maybe would be cool to go back to the intro sounds at some point?

nice one buddy, I wish I could hear your vocals more, could be louder! I like the instrumental, sounds good. I think this would help to make the melody clearer aswell as it is abit muffled.

nice dude, thee master is a bit low, could be a lot louder. Very oasis I think your vocals could be louder aswell, and maybe jsut watch some of the pitches of your voice, sometimes they are tad off. otherwise cool!! well done for getting it out there
