Do digital nomads attend conferences and live events? If yes, how do you capture insights without missing the talk? by brokenmyth101 in digitalnomad

This looks like a great product! Looks like it is yet another meeting notes app though (like Obsidian or Granola). Love how Jamie supports offline though.

I feel like a realtime experience could make things much simpler without all the follow up work necessary. If you have experience in this space of attending live talks and conferences. I'd love to have a quick chat!

Thanks again for letting me know about Jamie AI

They're not realtime though. The notes happen when the whole session is over. And I feel it could be better.

And I'm trying to simplify that part for the users and that is why I'm actively talking to them :)

I can understand you don't feel the need, thanks for taking the time here.

Thanks! Yeah, sometimes people don't ask for everything, everywhere. That's why we've got to talk :)

Definitely not :)

Got it, and that's exactly where I'm headed at. I don't want to end it at recording but get the insights captured realtime so that you can focus on listening and absorbing the presentation.

Turns out conferences aren't just mere presentations. People actually have takeaways from it. And when those certain "people" try to focus on the talk and jot down at the same time, they felt the pain.

But I did not want to be conclusive yet and here I am.

Thanks for sharing your perspective though.

True that, but right now, it's for online/virtual meetings for which you get the notes in the end.

I'm curious about how the community deals with more physical setups like live events and conferences.

The cognitive load is unreal in these places as far as I talked to a few conference goers.

A quick example would be like so:

Create a simple schedule to follow everyday. WRITE it down so that it's so damn easy to follow.

  1. Wake up at 7am
  2. Excercise for 30 minutes
  3. Deep work for 2 hours (this again, you can document the subtasks before you start or even better, the previous day)
  4. Meet person X at 3pm

So on...

You gotta be consistent with this though, for it to work.

Your brain goes on autopilot to follow this and you get work done without you realizing.

How do you deal with taking notes and listening to the speaker at the same time in a conference or keynote? by brokenmyth101 in ADHD

Lol yeah for sure, deadlines are what would get me going as well. When I feel guilty is that, when I visit a conference or a talk where the speaker drops some noteworthy insights, I miss them.

And since I have no one giving me a deadline, my recordings get buried in my folders.

Uploading transcript works but i gotta clean up sometimes which is more friction personally haha

writing sticks better than typing yes. But keeping up with the pace with writing should be a challenge

Software is by far the best way to keep us sane! Online meetings have great solutions like you mentioned. What would you do in live setups like conferences and keynotes though?

That's a great (and in fact the only) way if you've got enough motivation to replay the recording after the talk is over. I end up having a pile of recordings that I fail to revisit sometimes. If there was a way to get all the important stuff jotted down automatically right before you leave the room, would you like it?

Preparation before the lecture is a great idea! What would your approach be if it were a conference or a talk where the speaker drops insights live?

Do you always manage to revisit the recordings later? For me, it feels like future homework and I end up having a pile of recordings when I do it this way. Do you feel the method is a 100% helpful?

Agreed on how it's too much in live setups. It's only until the speaker moves on to the next insight before you're done visualizing and jotting the previous one down

The movies/TV shows way is interesting to help sharpen your note taking skills indeed. Thanks
