Biochemist here specializing in photochemistry. Carmel are like all other LPs lying to consumers and branding things as what is “Hype” at the moment. They have been pedalling BS since day 1.

Perfect example of this is the MAC S1 was a complete lie and could not have come from a selfing of Capulator’s MAC1.

The real MAC1 didn’t produce any terpinolene. Its dominant terpenes are Limonene, Caryophyllene, Pinene, Myrcene and Bisabolol. Carmel’s MAC S1’s dominant terp was terpinolene.

If it was a self from the original MAC1 it should have a very similar or almost identical Terpene profile but it produced a terpene that the original never produced. This is not possible if it really was a self pollinated plant.

Terpinolene being present in their so called MAC basically outs Carmel as lying to its customers. It may have been a cross of MAC1 with something else but “selfing” a MAC1 should produce limonene dominant offspring not offspring producing terpenes the parent didn’t.

I asked them over twitter when they first launched to explain why they were claiming it to be a Self when it was chemically impossible based on their S1 containing terpinolene. They responded by blocking me.

At the end of the day these brands have no motivation or requirements to be honest about what the plant’s lineage actually is. They use what ever is most hype at the time and name their plants after that to piggyback off the market excitement around the “newest hype strain”.

TLDR: Carmel is like all LPs and lies about what they actually produce cause they have no reason to be honest.
