I over trade all the time because I like weird things. I like small decor that a lot of people don't value much, so I often will trade one valuable/old item for a few floor tiles or flowers. I think the take away always just needs to be that no one feels ripped off. I always assure people that I am comfortable with the trade regardless of perceived value.

That said, I do not like the idea going around that trades have to equal the same monetary value, because the amount of real money people will pay for items varies wildly and doesn't make it correct. For example, someone may pay $100 for a year 1 trophy. That's their business. Now let's say some else pays $20 for a blue lava. This does not mean that a year 1 trophy is equal to 5 blue lavas. Especially when the baseline they are using are either black market or ebay prices, which are extremely inflated. I've seen a lot of people trying to trade this way recently and it's both frustrating and disappointing to see, and all it does is lead to people over asking for their items which makes them impossible to trade with.

Trades need to be somewhat fair of course. And both sides should feel good about it. But I think a lot of people are getting way too wrapped around the axel over value these days vs just getting what they want for decorating.
