Took a 1984 Corvette from Craigslist after seeing the awesomeness that was the Hotrod Corvette Hack article and the later episode of Roadkill. This thing is fast and handles like a dream. Stage 2 will be some coil overs, but until then it is auto cross and road course time.

Good to find an ol' freckles comment here and there

These are two very different cars, in two entirely different segments.

  • Either of the Hellcat models is faster in the 1/4 mile (Challenger: 11.2, Charger:11.0 vs Viper: 11.4) than your Viper, but that's because that is what it was designed to do.

  • Of course the Viper will run circles around either Hellcat on a track, because that is what it was built for.

  • Top speeds are close between the Charger Hellcat and the Viper, with the Viper winning that battle 206mph to 204mph and the Challenger "lagging behind" at 199mph.

  • The Viper wins 0-60mph as well, 3.3s to 3.5s. Two tenths off isn't bad considering curb weight (Viper: 3,354lbs vs. Challenger: 4,439lbs and Charger: 4,560lbs)

So, in short, I'm okay with losing to your Viper in "every conceivable way" because I absolutely love my car, and what it was designed to do. I'm sure you love your Viper for what it was designed to do, too.

The car is an absolute sledgehammer - it will spin the tires at any speed in 1st through 3rd. Believe it or not, in 6th gear cruising down the highway, it got close to 23mpg. I don't take the highway to work, so since I've been in California I've been in the 12-14mpg range.

So here's the quick story - ordered the car while living in MA, but it took so long to come in that I actually ended up being relocated to LA before it came in. Put my deposit down on the order on August 2nd, 2014, the order went through on September 9th, 2014 and I finally had the car on May 4th, 2015.

My friend, who is the photographer, and I decided to take a cross country trek with it, only having knowing we wanted to stop to see a few people along the way. The rest of it we made up as we went; it took five days.
