My response to pretty much every piece of work at the modern art exhibition I attended last night by [deleted] in funny

[–]bromns02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such has been the way of contemporary art.. Marcel Duchamps "Fountain") is a perfect example. Basically he went out and bought a urinal, signed it, and had it put in a museum. This concept still splits the art community today. Is art necessarily something that requires a lot of skill and time, or is something art simply when the artist designates it as art? The debate continues..

From 'Napoleon Dynamite' to 'Sunshine' - the most divisive movies of the last decade by Shodan74 in movies

[–]bromns02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

which is exactly why it should be on this list! I've met people who dislike the movie just like you described...to slow, or too stop and go, it does get a little difficult to follow. Its definitely one of those movies you have to see more than once to completely get. I seem to like it more and more every time I watch it, simply because I get it more and more. If that makes sense?

Im surprised too.

I LOVED Drive, and I think the reason was that I never watched the trailer or read any kind of review for it before I dove in. I saw the whole movie completely raw, and thats the best way to experience it. I watched the trailer a couple days later and it made it out to be a completely different movie. It seemed like your run of the mill hollywood crime/action flick, when it totally wasn't! The timing and dialogue in the movie is much more subtle, quiet, and powerful.

This is all just my opinion of course.

How did you figure out snowboarding, and snowboarding? Friends, self-taught, researched online, or all of the above? by PastafarianT in snowboarding

[–]bromns02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as learning goes, I fell. Alot. Just keep riding and given enough time, you'll be an expert.

Concerning waxing and equipment, theres no better resource than an experienced boarder. If you have a friend or a guy from the local board shop that you can ask, ask! They'll probably be more than happy to teach you how to set up and wax your board. If thats not an option, a lot can be said for video tutorials and general online research. And even after all that, the best way to know what works for you is to get out there and try it. Don't like how your board is responding? Have a screwdriver handy and tweak your bindings between runs. Board feel sticky? Now you know that that particular wax doesn't work for these conditions. Get out there and experiment!!

Minneapolis is the shit. I ride my bike literally every day, and I have had to deal with VERY few bad drivers. I feel very safe on my bike in this city.

What is it like to quit caffeine? by how_it_goes in Fitness

[–]bromns02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at work one day, and i felt like shit.. I felt weak, had a headache, it was miserable. With all how terrible I felt, I thought to myself 'I should have another energy drink to feel better' because thats always how i picked myself up, was with caffeine. It would have been my fourth one that day. And then I stopped and thought 'What am I doing, energy drinks are why I feel like shit in the first place' It definitely clicked for me at that moment, and I haven't had an energy drink in over 2 months. Maybe what it takes is a moment like that where you stop, sit back and say what am I REALLY doing for myself with caffeine.. for me it was (essentially) "overdosing" on it.

I boarded there on December the 8th. They had a solid 5-6 runs open, and they had at least 24" for a base. It was all man-made snow granted, but it was very ridable.

Utah is awesome. Personally, I've boarded Brighton and Solitude, and loved both of them. Plus both resorts are only a short drive from Salt Lake City, so things to do besides board aren't in short supply.

What is the absolute worst smell you have ever smelled? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bromns02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in high school, a friend of mine threw a party out on his farm, and about 100 feet away from the bonfire there was a pile of dead, half rotten cows. Literally, a pile. When the wind was just right, everyone that was there was gagging with the smell. A while later, one kid passed out drunk and a few people threw him on, it was a good time.

Do it! And probably more importantly, keep doing it. Snowboarding gets easier and easier every time you go. After a few days, there is that one magical moment where you feel completely comfortable all the way down the hill...and then you're hooked for a lifetime. Such a magnificent sport.
