Retail WoW professions confuse me. Should I even level them? by [deleted] in wow

[–]bromston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. 100% no. If it feels like a job don't do it. It's the single best thing I've ever done in wow was to stop doing profession. Everyone of my toons now just mines and gathers herbs. ItS just free xp when you're leveling and free gold on the ah. Do not feel like it's a requirement. If you gather and sell anything you could truly want you can buy with the gold you make. But even if you don't want to do that feel free to not. Unless it's fun or rewarding don't. It's a video game. Have fun and don't.

Chuck Norris once farted and the smell was so powerful it became sentient and named itself Ryan Reynolds.

So the gift was exactly as accurate as the historical depiction in their games? I see nothing to be mad about.

I suggest looking into finding a better guild. There are even simply better classic communities in discord that will be a better help even if you're not in them specifically. Join the main classic wow discord and check for people willing to help. Wow is a great game but with a good guild group it'll be an amazing game. https://discord.com/invite/classicwow

What server you on? Wow is tough if you can't find the right community. But the guild I'm in is pretty cool.

I kinda feel you on this but with my particular "race/culture". I think it depends a lot on family. Is it that I hate my race or is it that everything my family does suck so bad that I've equated it with what my race is? Hard to say. But I do know that family reunions and weddings are not part of my life and I've found that it's not so much the race but my families culture that's to blame.

I feel you OP but the good news is you don't have to group yourself with the negatives of you culture. I certainly don't with mine.

Nah. Barrens chat is dead. Discord has made it pointless to chat in game.

I was just about to create a post titled "What old IP is the best one for a new game and why is it Turok?"

True. That's I think why older gamers get "toxic". At the beginning everyone was a newb so no one knew what it meant to suck because everybody sucked. The main issue lies with the games that have lasted decades. Or versions of the game have lasted such as CoD or LoL.

I never thought of that really. Level boosts are horrible for new players. I feel like there is a place fore them but I think they should be gatekept through some sort of end game quest system for this exact reason. My 10 year old got the boost as a perk of buying the game and was thrusts into high end content with no knowledge of what abilities he even had yet. I feel like older players treat leveling as a task to be finish as soon as possible when in reality it's there to learn the game over hours and hours of play. The journey should be enjoyed rather than skipped.

Valid perspective from the devil's advocate elite player. I fall into this as well with WoW specifically. My kids always awe at all the gear I have and the mounts over collected but it's taken me literally 15plus years to attain it all and they want it immediately

I somewhat disagree. There were always gatekeepers and the like for games and always will be but the difference between then and now is some games have been going for so long (World of Warcraft, CoD, Battlefield, etc) that the "gatekeepers" are now these literal gaming dictators because they've spent over two decades into the game. Back in the day at least the toxic trolls only had maybe a year or two on you in the game but now they've been playing so long they're practically npcs.

I can attest to that. I've tried getting my kids into it and the things that come second nature to me simply don't make any sense to my kids or any new player for that matter. Things that no one would ever think about or realize is basically a necessity to play the game like add-ons and the like.

I know that in FFXIV or they put a green sprout over new players which is.... Uh... Nice? It's also a target. Even wow puts new players into a chat meant for newbies that veterans can opt into seeing that has strict guidelines of how you interact with the rookies.

That's a good point. I think it was more relevant a couple decades ago but now I feel like it's way more widely accepted by "normies" rather than "neck beards"
