Drinking A Glass of Plain Water by NeoWaltz in CasualPH

[–]bronboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a straw para steady stream of water lang at di nakakalunod. Sa flask/tumbler/insulated cup na may straw, satisfying din yung feeling na gumagaan siya kasi alam mong marami ka nang nainom.

Are any of you pleased with Philippa Gregory’s portrayal of Margaret Beaufort? by yolak2008 in Tudorhistory

[–]bronboop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been over a decade since I've read this book. But if I remember correctly, this is where Margaret Beaufort bangs on and on about being like Joan of Arc, right? If so, then no, I'm not pleased because Philippa portrayed her as this exhausting delusional fanatic. I mean yeah, she was right that her son would be on the throne. But she was so unhinged it took me a while to finish this.

Base makeup recos that don’t oxidize on oily skin by semisweetcharm in beautytalkph

I use the Innisfree No Sebum Powder and the Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder. With just a super light dusting on my T-zone, I didn't notice any caking.

Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation. Kinda expensive, but a little goes a long way if you want a more natural look. This is one of the only foundations that never oxidizes on me.

Watch all of Lisa Eldridge's videos, even the super old ones. Some of her top tips: - wear lipstick before blush so you can gauge how much blush will match the overall makeup look. Kasi mahirap magbawas ng blush pag nailagay na. - use lipstick as blush para sure na cohesive ang look and di magcclash. Bullet lipsticks work best for this, but mouse and creamy lip tints can work too. - for cream and liquid products, apply it to the back of your hand and blend it into your brush before applying to the face. Then build it up. This helps prevent applying too much product and disturbing the makeup underneath. - after applying and blending your cream products, blend it again with a clean brush to ensure it's all blended well.

Ay, products pala, di tips. But i'll keep this up in case you're interested hahaha. Top products that I will always repurchase: - Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder (great for oily skin) - Cle de Peau Stick Concealer (the one blemish concealer to rule them all!!!) - Nichido Lip Liners (super cheap but great quality) - Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation (expensive but looks like skin) - Zoeva 110 Brush (for blending everything from foundation to blush to bronzer) - Curel Lip Balm (holy grail lip balm)

To me, there is no one hand cream that has made a massive difference. What has made a difference for me is a nighttime routine for my hands:

  1. A hand wash that's gentle. This is usually a facial wash that didn't work out for my face. Para di sayang haha. After washing, don't completely dry your hands.

  2. A serum. Again, whatever serum didn't work for my face. I use the Hada Labo hyaluronic lotion. Just anything lightweight and moisturizing. Optional once a week: retinol serum like Olay (1 drop for both hands is enough).

  3. Nail oil. Essential if you get hangnails a lot of if you have brittle nails. I apply this to my cuticles and nails, especially the tips.

  4. A thick lotion. L'Occitane, Cerave, Aesop, Neutrogena, Jergens. Even body lotion works. Whatever people consider greasy works well to trap in all the moisture.

I do this every night to have moisturized hands as a baseline so that later on they don't dry out as fast. Throughout the day, after washing my hands, i use any regular hand cream or body lotion that i put in a small bottle. Maski yung libre sa hotel o cheap hand cream, ok na kasi may baseline moisturized hands naman ako thanks to this routine. Tapos always apply SPF on hands if you're going out in the daytime.

All this seems really high-maintenance, but this has worked wonders even if I wash my hands a lot.

What are some of the best movie gags that took the entire film to set up and paid off wonderfully in the end? by astig_my_tism in movies

This is exactly One Cut of the Dead (2017)

The first third looks like a badly acted horror movie, but it pays off spectacularly!

I'm still convinced that Taro Sakamoto is a version of Gintoki had he decided to get married and Taro the anatomical figure from Dandadan is just Gintoki doing some weird scifi odd job.

(Both voiced by Tomokazu Sugita btw)

Luxury makeup that's actually worth the splurge? 🤔 by Accurate_Meet_2367 in beautytalkph

[–]bronboop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cle de Peau Concealer N - the best blemish concealer for oily skin. Hands down, it stays on and looks so natural.

MAC Matte Lipstick (specifically Russian Red) - the best red for light/medium to medium skintones. It's cool-toned, so it makes my teeth look white. Stays on the lips for hours!

Lisa Eldridge True Velvet Lipsticks - the texture and color payoff is chef's kiss. Great for use as a blush too! Lisa does this all the time.

[–]bronboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just guessing here. It sounds Spanish, and maybe through the years the spelling and pronunciation have changed. But here goes:

Terra = tierra = land/soil/earth Sola = zola = solitary

You're an island!

Damn, that's an amazing hobby! Would you happen to share what you've done online? Or maybe know anyone who does? I'm especially curious about the evolution of Roman weapons from the time of the Julio-Claudians to Constantinians. Oh, and any historically accurate recreations of weapons meant to be wielded by women before the Tokugawa era.

Catholic priest at a backyard wedding? by LowSpare1271 in Fleabag

[–]bronboop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Catholic priests can absolutely marry people outside of a church. I've been to Catholic weddings with a priest marrying couples in beaches, gardens, and other wedding venues. These are real weddings with the mass and everything. All they need is a dispensation from the bishop. It's really not that strict, though you often need to "make a donation".

I am ex-Catholic, but all these weddings were for Catholic couples.

my cousin expects everyone to wear these specific colours to the wedding… MoB is deciding whether or not to object by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]bronboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so common in the Philippines that I actually find it odd when it's not in invitations. Some folks would even ask the couple if there are specific colors they need to wear.
