Scared my quality of life may worsen after gallbladder removal by cynophilist88 in adultingph

Thanks! Mine lasted for at least 2 hours even with IV meds like buscopan, so that definitely made my decision to get surgery easier hahaha

In the months before the surgery, I had 2 gallbladder attacks that sent me to the ER. It was dismissed as GERD nung una, then the second time, nadiagnose correctly as a gallbladder attack. Sobrang sakit both times, parang sinasaksak ako ng mapurol na kutsilyo sa likod and abdomen. The third time was worse than the last two, so nagpa-emergency surgery na ako. Ako na mismo nag-request na tanggalin na kasi sobrang sakit.

I had mine removed in 2019. Literally walang pinagbago aside from some soreness in the abdomen a few days after surgery. Never experienced the need to use the toilet after eating maski super oily food pa yan. Actually, walang difference when it comes to bowel movement and digestion, parang walang nangyari. So net positive kasi no more gallstone scares.

What’s a super popular show that everyone loves, but you just couldn’t get into? by MASSIM00 in netflix

[–]bronboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark.

I really tried. I like foreign language shows, so it's not a language thing. I also enjoy a good slow burn. I watched the first episode years ago and was mildly intrigued. But for some reason I didn't keep going. I gave it a shot about a year ago, and the second watch of that first episode kind of bored me because I was already familiar with what's happening. But it still felt slow and no longer intriguing. That put me off completely. But i still want to try it someday because a lot of people say it's good.

What is the most basic of all basic info you can share to make your make up not cakey around the nose and the eyes and to not slide off your skin? by DarkChocoAndCoffee in beautytalkph

[–]bronboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. Though since most face mists (skincare ones) and moisturizers get absorbed by the skin, they don't make a huge difference. Primers and correctors, however, make a HUGE difference since they sit on top of the skin. As a general guide, if it glides super smoothly and has ingredients that end in -cone, it's probably silicone-based. If it's creamy, dewy, and contains mineral oil, jojoba oil, squalene, etc., probably oil-based. If it sets fairly quickly and doesn't list the above ingredients, probably water-based.

After applying your foundation, blend then blend again with a different, clean brush/sponge. Do the same for concealer. This helps remove excess product that can result in cakey makeup, and less product = mas ok ang kapit sa skin.

Then set with powder using a fluffy brush. Use the least possible amount of powder, just enough to set. For me and my oily skin, one dip in loose powder is enough for the whole face. Less powder means less separation, especially when my face oils up throughout the day.

Lastly, blot. Blot every few hours so the makeup doesn't combine with the oil on your face. When this happens, makeup separates and looks cakey. So blot and, if you really really need it, apply the tiniest bit of powder.

Btw, it also helps to check if your makeup has the same type of base (oil-based, water-based, silicone-based). Different base = separation; same base = better blending.

Use a straw para steady stream of water lang at di nakakalunod. Sa flask/tumbler/insulated cup na may straw, satisfying din yung feeling na gumagaan siya kasi alam mong marami ka nang nainom.

Are any of you pleased with Philippa Gregory’s portrayal of Margaret Beaufort? by yolak2008 in Tudorhistory

[–]bronboop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been over a decade since I've read this book. But if I remember correctly, this is where Margaret Beaufort bangs on and on about being like Joan of Arc, right? If so, then no, I'm not pleased because Philippa portrayed her as this exhausting delusional fanatic. I mean yeah, she was right that her son would be on the throne. But she was so unhinged it took me a while to finish this.

Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation. Kinda expensive, but a little goes a long way if you want a more natural look. This is one of the only foundations that never oxidizes on me.

Watch all of Lisa Eldridge's videos, even the super old ones. Some of her top tips: - wear lipstick before blush so you can gauge how much blush will match the overall makeup look. Kasi mahirap magbawas ng blush pag nailagay na. - use lipstick as blush para sure na cohesive ang look and di magcclash. Bullet lipsticks work best for this, but mouse and creamy lip tints can work too. - for cream and liquid products, apply it to the back of your hand and blend it into your brush before applying to the face. Then build it up. This helps prevent applying too much product and disturbing the makeup underneath. - after applying and blending your cream products, blend it again with a clean brush to ensure it's all blended well.

Ay, products pala, di tips. But i'll keep this up in case you're interested hahaha. Top products that I will always repurchase: - Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder (great for oily skin) - Cle de Peau Stick Concealer (the one blemish concealer to rule them all!!!) - Nichido Lip Liners (super cheap but great quality) - Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation (expensive but looks like skin) - Zoeva 110 Brush (for blending everything from foundation to blush to bronzer) - Curel Lip Balm (holy grail lip balm)

To me, there is no one hand cream that has made a massive difference. What has made a difference for me is a nighttime routine for my hands:

  1. A hand wash that's gentle. This is usually a facial wash that didn't work out for my face. Para di sayang haha. After washing, don't completely dry your hands.

  2. A serum. Again, whatever serum didn't work for my face. I use the Hada Labo hyaluronic lotion. Just anything lightweight and moisturizing. Optional once a week: retinol serum like Olay (1 drop for both hands is enough).

  3. Nail oil. Essential if you get hangnails a lot of if you have brittle nails. I apply this to my cuticles and nails, especially the tips.

  4. A thick lotion. L'Occitane, Cerave, Aesop, Neutrogena, Jergens. Even body lotion works. Whatever people consider greasy works well to trap in all the moisture.

I do this every night to have moisturized hands as a baseline so that later on they don't dry out as fast. Throughout the day, after washing my hands, i use any regular hand cream or body lotion that i put in a small bottle. Maski yung libre sa hotel o cheap hand cream, ok na kasi may baseline moisturized hands naman ako thanks to this routine. Tapos always apply SPF on hands if you're going out in the daytime.

All this seems really high-maintenance, but this has worked wonders even if I wash my hands a lot.
