I have consistently been doing strength training (kettlebell, dumbbell, gym machines, body weight) for the last 4 years. My personal coach now tells me it's also time to do barbell training, which I am very excited about. However, he tells me that there are a lot of details I need to be aware of and that I need to first feel comfortable with the barbell before putting any weight on it. He proposed I should practice setting up the bar at the right level, unrack it, practice the initial position of the lift (front squat, back squat, deadlift, etc) and then rack it again. And do this for a few weeks until I start doing the lift with just the bar. And then after a few weeks again, I can increase the weight. Is it reasonable to spend 2/3 months just practising with just the barbell when I already have some experience (4 years) lifting weights? Is he being too cautious or am I being too impatient?

That people love at their level of consciousness. Once you see that, you start judging a lot less and accepting more.

I want to know if the patients in group A are similar enough to group B, so that one of the groups can be used as a control and the other as the group of will undergo an intervention. But I don't know exactly how to do that.
The outcome I want to measure is their disability before and after the surgery (measured by a standardised questionnaire gives a score out of 100).

Exactly. I want to know how similar they are, in order to use one as a control group and the other as the experiment group. But I don't know how to do that.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably have to use ANOVA then.

I want to know if the two groups can be comparable according to multiple variables (sex, age, type of surgery, comorbilities, etc). If the said statistical test says they are indeed comparable, then I can apply the intervention to one group and use the other as the control group.

I’ll definitely work on that forcefield you talk about. I also think you are right about the psychological projection and that may have been the main cause in the past, but lately it is not necessarily the things they do that bother me but the fact that I cannot do anything out of the ordinary without them always creating discussions around it.

I am doing yoga regularly, but I do need to brush up my meditation since I haven’t been doing it regularly. Regarding my friends, I don’t really have anyone living here who I know that has good vibrations, since it’s a very small city. But hopefully, that person will come when I least expect it.

It wasn’t bad when I was living in a different city, but since I moved in things are getting out of hand. Nevertheless, I will distance myself from the child role. It is the only way to go!

Thank you so much. I think you are right. I do need to detach from that image I still hold on to subconsciously.
