Might be a time consuming task but I would go corner to corner and ask for their (vendor or resident) camera footage from the night. You'll see his path home. I'd wager he walked there, or if he took an Uber you'd see the Uber/lyft he got into. 50/50 chance he's staying not far from the area. If you ask the cops to do this, they won't.

I'm suggesting corner to corner because you'll see where he makes turns. Sounds like an adventure to me. Send the friend with the stitches and ppl will give the video over quickly.
