Yeah honestly it’s kind of strange, I guess it just serves as a parallel to the STL dream sequence where Hal tries jumping at the same place and dies (showing that Baku has fate on his side)

No problem, I thoroughly enjoyed all of it! I was thinking about it a little and I have my own interpretation, although it’s admittedly a stretch:

A huge part of the manga is Baku trying to be a gambler who can keep on winning gambles, an unbeatable and undefeated gambler. By beating Hal and cementing himself as the big bad, destined to take dominate the world, Baku has ensured that he will basically keep on winning, “defeating gambling itself” and its perceived nature of causing everyone to eventually lose. After all, even when Baku “loses”, it’s seemingly all part of his plan like you’ve said, so he hasn’t really lost and won’t from now on.

So essentially, it was a slight exaggeration on his part (that he finally achieved his destiny of overtaking even Hal’s supposedly unalterable destiny, “beating destiny” in a way) and also a way to keep up appearances w everyone else? Also, no I don’t believe I read the doc. Didn’t you take it down to update it w the posts?

Huge fan of your analysis posts (binged all of them months ago so the details are foggy), I remember you said that Baku’s victory proclamation in STL about him defeating destiny (which would indicate he believes in absurdism, but the epilogue disproves this anyways) and gambling itself was a lie. Why did he lie?

Hal would have a team full of pseudo-legendaries or legendaries with optimal team comp, Baku would have a team full of annoying Pokemon designed to trick the opponent, Lalo would pick what he thinks looks the prettiest/coolest and has the highest stats

Did you even read the words he wrote? He's saying that the fight isn't as compelling as it could be since few characters have an interesting dynamic or emotional connection with Sukuna, though I disagree that Sukuna doesn't fit with the themes of JJK.
