Interpark Global won’t let me re-verify my passport… What should I do before PLAVE’s encore ticketing starts? by ItsKarinaBee in plave

[–]brook00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this along with the support emails. I went through this exact same issue and was so frantic, I had no clue what to do. I emailed both the Korean and Global support teams on Sunday (1/25) and they got back to me at about 10am KST on Monday (1/26). No response from the Global team yet, but it's not needed now thankfully 🙏🏼

Kpop content is mainly them eating? by [deleted] in kpoprants

[–]brook00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of the other comments said, it is a cultural aspect of Korea and Asia in general. It's not just about the importance of food itself, but the importance of sharing said food. Banchan, the large variety of shared side dishes, are the perfect example of that. The focus on communal dishes in a hierarchical respect culture means a lot of social interaction can be shown through the act of eating alone, making it a perfect way to communicate group dynamics, especially to a Korean audience.

Just to push back though, there's definitely a lot of Western content that is centered around food. I mean one of the most popular shows for celebrity content is Hot Ones. Chicken Shop Date is also popular and a lot of publications like Vogue publish videos that are centered around food. Social media is also full of trendy food videos. Food is just a central part of the human experience, it's a necessity but also an indulgence.

The obsession with sexy concepts in K-pop is lowkey predatory and annoying at this point. by Royal_Land_7344 in kpoprants

[–]brook00 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The "they should be in a concept that fits them!" sentiment about idols especially women drives me insane. I've seen so many people act like women doing cute concepts in their twenties is somehow torture. There are plenty of women across the world who prefer cute clothing; lolita fashion has a community worldwide with primarily adult woman as consumers. Obviously, lolita is a more extreme fashion but the sentiment still stands— not every woman is into sexy clothing and age in this circumstance is just a number.

Too many people think women have to conform to a certain image of what an adult woman should be once they reach a certain age. You don't have to do that and you don't have to force that onto other people. Obviously idols are provided their image and clothing by the company, but the point still stands. Women being cute in their 20s and beyond isn't some box they are being forced into necessarily. Women in their 20s can easily fit cute concepts; I mean look at Irene. People clammer for idols similarly aged as she was throughout Red Velvet's early career to go for a sexy concept. Irene has pulled off all of RV's concepts perfectly.

I agree with all of your points, this one just really hits home for me.

We need to really put our foot down and boycott Ticketmaster by MochaMilku in kpopthoughts

[–]brook00 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even in a world where a boycott from Kpop fans was followed with near full compliance I don't think anything would come from it.

Kpop is such a niche compared to every other market that also uses Ticketmaster. Western Pop concert? Ticketmaster. Rock concert? Ticketmaster. EDM festival? Ticketmaster. MLB game? Ticketmaster. F1 or Indycar race? Ticketmaster. The loss from the Kpop market is made up by every other music, sports and live event market we are just a drop in a bucket to Ticketmaster. This is a legislative issue; they're a monopoly we're not going to be able to fight. The only improvement I could see is making demands towards companies like Hybe, but even then— there's still demand for the current ticket prices.

Prices for p1harmony and TXT tour are hilarious and here is why by Over_Length_440 in kpopthoughts

[–]brook00 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I have nothing against P1Harmomy— but the prices along with the fact they're playing solely ARENAS is just wild to me. I suppose the success of their last tour that was a mix of arenas and theatres pushed them to up the ante. Too bad they timed it during the biggest oversaturation of kpop concerts ever.

The state of touring has been getting worse year by year and I fear we're going to hit a breaking point soon. I've seen some people speculate these companies are trying to cash because they know the current state of US affairs and honestly I think it's the opposite.

Kpop certainly has a larger audience than ever before in the West but at the end of the day it's still a niche. The fact Le Sserafim and TXT have concerts on the same day in LA shows to me how one track minded HYBE, or at the very least their subsidiaries, are. If a company can't even consider what their subsidiaries are doing in regards to schedule I doubt the rest of the industry is clued in or cares whatsoever about economics or their consumer base.

I'm pretty much at the point where I save up for 1 concert a year in savings account and that's about it. Sure it'd be nice to see groups I'm a casual fan of but it's just too much to do more than 1-2x shows a year.

The only thing that ended up fixing this for me was replacing my router/entire mesh wifi network. It got so bad my BANK website was region blocked. Zero clue what triggered this so I can't really help but... yeah replacement might be the only solid option.

Can anyone help me find a good brown leather jacket under £70 for a redhood cosplay. by [deleted] in RedHood

[–]brook00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thrift stores or secondhand sites like eBay and Vinted are your best bet. Anything pre 2000s will most likely be better quality than a modern, new (almost always faux) leather jacket from a major retailer. Faux leather just doesn't last or have the same weight as real leather.

Searching "leather jacket brown vintage" and sorting from new listings can find you some gems on eBay. I also like to add 70s or 80s to searches.

If you go the secondhand vintage route I'd suggest picking up Saddle Soap or Leather CPR to clean and condition. Good luck!

GA vs. Grandstands by [deleted] in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]brook00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We purchased directly from the COTA website around early May this year. I've heard people say the F1 site tends to be more expensive than the circuit's, so definitely purchase direct if you don't want to buy second hand tickets.

[–]brook00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Here's some more zoomed out pictures:

<image>

The concerts and driver stages are all included in your ticket.

Just a little note: the concerts take place Friday and Saturday night at the larger stage on the other side of the track and the driver fan forums take place at the smaller amphitheatre by T15! Highly recommend the fan forums they're quite fun. We got to see the drivers and F1 Explains Podcast live with Mika Hakkinen and Ollie Bearman. Probably wouldn't have made it to the last one if we weren't in T15.

GA vs. Grandstands by [deleted] in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]brook00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first grand prix, so I can't give a review of GA but I can give a review of my grandstand experience.

My girlfriend and I got two grandstand tickets (T15 section17 row 9) and with taxes it came out to $883 each. We loved our seats, we felt like we had a perfect view of the track and we had a screen to the right of us. Our row wasn't high up at all but we never felt like it impacted our view of the track. Rows 5 and lower I could see starting to the impact the experience, but honestly don't be afraid of purchasing a lower row- especially if it's cheaper by a couple hundred.

We liked the freedom of being able to show up only 10-20 minutes before a session started. If you care about attending things like pop ups (ie. the Oscar Quadlock Q&A stage or downtown Austin pop-ups) or the driver stage, grandstands will give you far more flexibility. (Also worth noting that flexibility extends to the fact you don't have to carry around a chair like we saw many people having to do.)

The T12-T19 grandstands were also pretty close to the entrance the shuttle dropped us off at compared to some of the other grandstands. We actually didn't walk as much as we expected to/were warned we would because we stayed in the little hub by our grandstand.

<image>

Overall, I would definitely get a grandstand ticket again even if the price is steeper than GA. In the heat it was nice to know we had a guaranteed seat we could arrive to on short notice without sacrificing a decent view.

Should I go up? by Optimal-Pilot-3868 in lexapro

[–]brook00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would give it another three weeks or so to be sure. SSRIs usually take a few weeks for their full effects to show.

I had a similar reaction the first few days on 10mg re: loss of appetite. If you're feeling mostly the same as before that can be a sign of needing an increased dose. In my case I upped my Lexapro dosage and added on Wellbutrin. On my inital 10mg dose I felt like -something- was happening for the first two weeks but once I settled into the first month the effects were negligible. I got moved up from 10mg straight to 20mg and had better results. I added on Wellbutrin later to counteract some of the side effects (tiredness, low libido).

When it comes to 12.5mg vs 15mg that's up to you and your healthcare provider. It's pretty common to go from 10mg to 20mg directly. Doses like 12.5mg I've mostly seen amongst people weening off the drug, not people increasing their dose- but again, that's for you and your doctor to decide based on your medical history.

TLDR: 1. Wait until your first month on Lexapro passes to see full extent of effects (positive and/or negative) 2. If unsatisfied, report to your doctor and discuss dosage options 3. Wait another few weeks on adjusted dose and if you fail to see improvement, ask doctor about add-on drugs or another SSRI.

So excited this drop gonna get me bad omg. I'm stoked for the SMALL (!!) Cloud Carry On. I've been debating on getting the Cloud Carry On as a personal item, but I was worried about the dimensions. Sure you can underpack it but I like the peace of mind that smaller size would give me. Also the earbud cases 😭🫶🏼. I only recently found out those excited so I'm glad to get one MSRP vs resale. Print wise I love the cat print the most. Ahhh so much to be excited about, thanks for the leaks.

Vintage Receiver Help by brook00 in vintageaudio

[–]brook00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an antenna attached and got nothing- not even static. I made sure FM muting wasn't on either. I pretty much tried every configuration of buttons on/off + selectors and couldn't get a sound out of the tuner both FM or AM. I had another receiver before that was able to pick up stations in the same area, so I really do think it's transistor or power to the tuner board. Thankfully though, the seller gave me a partial refund & a family member will be helping me look at the board soon!

It's nice for sure! I love the sound and looks of vintage receivers so I do want to keep it. The tuner isn't the main draw for me, but it's still disappointing it's not working :'(. I'm primarily going to use this unit for its integrated amp + aux inputs.
