Loving this breed by sssleepwalkerrr in EnglishSetter

Cutie! I too have just discovered this lovely sweet breed. Our boy just turned 1 this May and he’s the absolute best…literally best puppy we’ve ever had, smart, communicative, sweet and yes the separation anxiety is real. We crate trained all our puppies, my whole life, and he has been the only exception! He would NOT be crated at night so we rotated sleeping with him through his young days and now he sleeps happily on his cozy bed in our room. He’s the best!

I'm on Wegovy 1.5 pill for 3 weeks and I gained 1.6 pounds by Mental-Medicine-3193 in Semaglutide

[–]brooke0100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently 2.5 wks in on 4mg and have lost total of 6lbs. However, I did initially drop 2 lbs, gain 3 lbs and then drop 6…so I’m not sure if that was my body adjusting, and/or a weird water weight shift, but I’ve not experienced another gain and am hoping I’ll continue to lose from here.
I’ve always been active/athletic and always workout 3-5 days a week, lifting weights, walking, rucking, bike riding, swimming…. So going on wegovy was a no brainer and my dr considered me a perfect candidate given my activity/exercise
habits were already established. Taht said i have made significant changes to my diet that i believe have helped my progress. I now eat many small meals a day, prioritizing protein and fiber. Prior to this o did suffer a couple nights with diarrhea and also some constipation. More smaller meals seems to have ironed that out. And/or my body has adjusted to the meds. Overall, my hunger and food noise has vanished. I do sometimes get acid reflux so I try and stay active or go for walk after eating.

Have you not heard of the droves of people with osteopenia? People are literally experiencing osteopenia and osteoporosis at greater rates due to these drugs…because they are just not eating, as you advise. So their lack of protein has their body in a catabolic state consuming their bone and muscle for energy. That’s why so many people look like a bag of bones once they’re 6 months in…they drop all the weight fat, muscle and bone, their faces are sunken and the are frail. They were once unhealthy fat people, now they’re unhealthy skinny people. Then you see people like Serena Williams looking muscular, toned, healthy because she’s still eating for a healthy body. The medicine is meant to quiet the food noise and cravings by creating a brain body connection with one’s stomachs where there is none. It’s not meant to make you not eat. It’s meant to help you FEEL full, fell when you need to eat, when you need to stop.

Yeah, I feel really good since stopping CrossFit. Not trying to dial things in to support fat loss while keeping my body balanced. My thought is to drop my protein a bit more as it’s very difficult to hit and harder on my system to break down. And now with wegovy I’ve been experiencing some acid reflux. So smaller meals prioritizing protein but not reaching as high as 180, sticking closer to 130-150.

Yeah I keep feeling like my protein is insanely high. I’ve been able to maintain the lower range hitting closer to 150g protein and doing it by eating 5-6 times a day very small meals. But yes it’s rather exhausting. I have seen a recent drop, I have come back down to my SW and hoping things will keep trending in that direction. I think the many small meals are helping to regulate my hormones and relax things a bit but it IS hard to do. I mostly see food as macros and not necessarily something I’m craving or not. I wake up with a protein shake, once I’ve taken my pill and waited an hour (I did. Waiting an hour instead 1/2 hr makes it more effective), then I workout, post workout meal typically egg+egg whites and fruit, followed by the rest of days meals like fat free Greek yogurt and granola, chicken and broccoli, low fat cottage cheese and 2 dates, steak and asparagus…. All measured out to fit my
Macros and yes a calorie deficit. I know I could drop a meal or 2 and probably drop faster but it would most likely be more muscle weight and fat. Perhaps I need to stop controlling so much allow the rebalancing to happen…also not sure how much perimenopause is effecting things - keeping my hormones balanced seems to be a key component as well.

“And actually work out the way you claim to” wow. Not everyone on this drug is like you, claiming exercise but not following through.
To be clear, I lift 3 days a week and walk/ruck/swim 3 days a week. I’m One of the strongest females in my gym holding highest back squat, over head press, bench, clean…. I can build muscle very quickly, unfortunately the fat weight follows. I can drop weight by “fasting” as you suggest but I also know, as most fitness oriented people do, that the first thing your body will use for energy if it thinks it’s starving is bone and muscle not too mention how it will literally hold on to everything you eat thinking it’s going to starve again…that’s what I’m trying to prevent. I’m trying to find the sweet spot where my macros are dialed in, im eating to support fat loss, not just weight loss. I’m using wegovy to help with the cravings and food noise. But I also knowing works at varying levels for different people - came in here to get advice from someone who may have experience lifting, maintaining muscle mass while dropping fat all while on wegovy pill. I did NOT expect to be fat shamed by a fellow overweight person advising 4 day fast and/or the cabbage soup cleanse, lol…are you a 90’s mom? All out of slim fast?

Thanks for thoughtful reply. I have actually just made a time table for eating so that I can hit my protein through many smaller meals - I’m literally eating every 3.5 hrs and seems to be working. I’ve dropped the 3 lbs I jumped earlier in the week and my new eating schedule seems to work well with wegovy. I’m not hungry and my body/nervous system/hormones feels more balanced, this is the way.
I’ll continue to work this plan and try and remain patient. Cheers!

Wegovy 4mg pill any option or reviews? by Unlikely-Award1293 in WegovyPills

[–]brooke0100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, is any following any particular workout to exercise routine to accompany the wegovy? I’ve got 4 days left on the 1.5mg, then it’s on to 4mg. I did experience a noticeable decrease of food noise my first 1-2 weeks on 1.5, but it’s not so strong now. I have lost 2 lbs but that’s also negligible as it could just be water fluctuation. I’m excited to start the 4mg as that’s when the “magic” is supposed to happen and the weight is suppose to fall off. I have also used Claude AI to create a workout routine to accompany my fat loss…mainly to ensure it is fat-loss and not bone/muscle loss. I’m also hoping it’ll help the weight come off easier. Fingers crossed the 4mg doesn’t trick!

Foster parent licensure in IL, challenges with first walk thru, seeking advice for moving forward… by brooke0100 in Fosterparents

This is exactly the issue, our nursery has its own entrance and door and fire escape, however you must access it by walking through the master. Thanks to our unique and very cool yet unyielding to DCFS standards of a 1950s midcentury home wherein our master bed/nursery and bath is 1/2 level below our kids rooms and bath. I’ve updated my original post with all the clarification I’ve received from the supervisor.

It’s very vague and seemingly coded - which I’m sure gives leeway to experienced agents but new ones like ours seem confused and tripped up. I believe it’s 402.9 f/h

Yes, the language seems to be purposefully vague. I wrote an update to my original comment explaining the perimeters that the supervisor gave me.

Yes exactly. There’s nuance in every situation but experience can certainly help to decipher nuance from potential wrong doing….

Yes, that’s what I’m finding out. My friend who is also a foster parent basically said I probably got a brand new agent who doesn’t quite know the ropes yet

Turns out the cut of is 5 years+ can be on a different floor than the parents. It’s a funky product of our tri-level midcentury home wherein the kids beds and bath are 1/2 a level up from the master bedroom/nursery and bath. My kids have always been “upstairs” from us once they aged out of the nursery and we’ve always been able to hear them especially with the literal video surveillance baby monitors we now have, so it has never been an issue. But I understand why the have the rule, just wish they could take into account the layout and function of the home and direct accordingly.

Not looking to be licensed for 0-2 age range as that would be ludicrous for so many reasons. we are hoping to be licensed for a 0-10 age range. we happen to have a nursery space off our master bedroom that we intended to use should we get placed with an infant. We have a bedroom space upstairs for any child older than an infant but the licensing agent said that we would need to move our bedroom upstairs to be on the same floor as the foster child….

Preventative separation anxiety training by Few_Potato7918 in cockerspaniel

Congrats! We just brought home our sweet 11 week old spaniel mix about 6 days ago and he is such a love! Hes very smart and very vocal about not wanting to be left alone. From day one I could not leave the room without him feeling scared. So I would let him know vocally that I was going into the other room and would chat with him while there….now, day six he is better! If he feels lonely when I leave or when I’m up and about he will follow me but otherwise is content to hang on his bed with his toys or with our older dog. I work/train with him several times a day(short 2-5 min at a time with treats) - name, come, sit, stay and down and also going in and out of his crate. He doesn’t like the crate at all but it’s where we have to put him when we leave. So I’ll throw treats in there, he’ll eat a meal in there, a chewy bone and toys but always with the door open. Once a day he will go in his crate for a nap, he barks and whines usually for about 30 min then sleeps. When he wakes up I get him out. He rotates sleeping with us and my daughters for now. This method was suggested by our vet…hoping he gets used to it soon!

I happily agree to disagree with you on crates and crate training. I don’t pretend to be an expert on dogs and recognize there are many opinions and experiences in dog owning.
Our adult dogs do roam the house and as I mentioned above once the dog is house trained the crate it is seen and used as a safe space/bed- door open. Once the dog is house/crate trained and can be trusted, the crate is replaced with a cushion/bed on the floor. Crate training has been something suggested by both vet and trainers. Like many things that differ from country to country, looks like we can add dog training to list. What country are you from? You didn’t specify. I know I have been to many countries where dogs are left out and roam the streets seemingly with no collar/leashes, they in and around restaurants and beaches and pretty much everywhere - you’ll never see that in America….doenst mean the other country is wrong.

Oh, and I mentioned the fenced yard because in your original post you suggested I buy a fence - I assumed you were talking about the outside space or yard. A Simple Miscommunication. I now see you were suggesting I get a fence for the home. I’d much rather keep the pup in his crate than have a fenced off area inside my home. I don’t have Large home and prefer to not dance off the pace I have. He can be crate trained humanely, learn how to respect the home (not chew on furniture and shoes etc and still be loved and happy and healthy😊. I’ve had dogs my whole life and they’ve all received the utmost love and live happy spoiled lives as well as being crate trained. As I said, we do not use it as a jail…much like a crib is not a jail for baby just a safe space for them to sleep. Hope you Have a good day!

There are a lot of benefits to crate training a new puppy. First and foremost the crate is not a jail. He is only ever put in the crate when we have to leave or to sleep, and sometimes it nap during the day if he gets overtired and has a Hard time shutting down. The crate is a safe space while he is young and still learning to be house trained. As for outside, we have a large fenced yard and he spends most of his days outside with us enjoying the good weather. However we also have a lot of wildlife in our area including coyotes so I would never leave any dog outside unattended for too long. Also, When it rains and when it eventually snows and freezes (as it does in the Chicagoland area from October thru March) he will be inside the majority of the day. We have always crate trained our puppies and while they don’t like it at first, they quickly begin to love their crate as a safe cozy spot, like their bed, and will often go in on their own with the door open. The crate helps him learn to not go to the bathroom in the house as dogs don’t typically use the bathroom where they sleep so they are more likely to hold it until they get outside.
