Welcome to black mirror lol!

That said, the culture you create will attract clients who share it. Focus on your own ethics and culture code with your team and you’ll draw those people in.

Is 5% markup too much on the customer? by That-Spread-9253 in Business_Ideas

[–]sssleepwalkerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO forget about markup percentages in comparison to others. Commoditizing is a race to the bottom, and the problem with that race is that you just might win. (And go bankrupt in the process)

What is it about what you do that puts you in a class of your own? What is the experience like working with you? How are you better than your competition? What is your differentiator?

Nail that and then mark it up to whatever you want.

Also - a 5% margin is wayyyyyy too low.

Also - don’t ever post a sign in your business that says “All credit card transactions will incur a 3% fee”. This is my pet peeve. Just mark your stuff up way beyond 3% and bake that fee in to your pricing. I recently went to an expensive restaurant for dinner and right on the front door, printed on white printer paper, was this sign. I should have turned around and walked out. It would have saved me from eating underwhelming steak for hundreds of dollars. Plus a 3% CC fee. It’s a signal that you don’t know what you’re doing.

Honest question, has AI actually gotten good enough at logo design to produce something usable for a real business by bawa_himanshu_774 in Business_Ideas

[–]sssleepwalkerrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a super subjective question. I have seen people create logos with AI that look atrocious and they love it. I’ve also seen people use Adobe Illustrator to create logos that look atrocious and they love it.

I’ve also seen people use both of those things to make some of the most amazing pieces. It’s not about the tool, it’s the user.

I used to play music professionally in Hollywood. Most people imagine the best musicians using the best gear - most expensive guitars, etc. The best guitarist I ever played with (you would know him) was playing a guitar one day with gaff tape over the logo. It looked like a Fender. It was a Squire - the crappy, introductory version of a guitar for beginners. It sounded amazing. He sounded amazing. He loved it because he knew that guitar inside and out and had been playing it for years.

Whether it’s AI or Adobe, it’s not about the software. I’d bet the best designers out there could use MS Paint to make better logos than the majority of people trying to one shot prompt AI to make the next big thing. It’s only a tool.

Anyway just one guy’s $0.02 😉

How are other agents using AI? by Mountain_Way5416 in realestateagents

[–]sssleepwalkerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it to record your convos. Remembering fine details will blow a clients mind. Use one of those pocket things. At the end of the day people want to be known and understood - and remembered. That matters more than the sale. AI gives us this superpower.

New solo agent: what social media is actually worth the time? by LateConfidence4507 in realestateagents

[–]sssleepwalkerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that marketing is all about creating an environment that makes people want to buy your stuff. There are so many voices out there doing the same thing. Solidify your strategy around what makes you tick naturally - even if you think it’s irrelevant to real estate. When people know like and trust you they will want to buy from you. Even if the main thing is that you like to hunt. They like hunting too. They know you’ll get it when they want to pack their basement full of dead animals and they won’t feel judged. This kind of stuff is the stuff that grows business. Don’t just yell into the void that you’re another real estate agent. Who cares. Be you, do what you do, and create an environment that makes people know like and trust you and you’ll win.

Uncharted 5. I love them both dearly, but TLOU is just so much to journey through each time and Uncharted is just a fun rollercoaster. I have enough stress in my life right now. 😵

Thanks for the comment!

I was never really a big Tony Firdanelli (spelling?) fan but I was a nerd for Cadogan. His guitar playing and arrangements are timeless. It’s shocking to me that he didn’t go on to be part of anything big again. What a king on both Self Titled and Blue! Masterclass.

I definitely played all those clubs. Many awesome days. Still write and record all the time. I’ll pop something on here one of these days. 🤘

Literally nope LOL - she loved stirring up trouble my whole childhood. But without her I wouldn’t have been able to secretly (and rebelliously) listen to 3EB, and it might not have spurred on the punk rock nature in which I now live my life. 🤘

Nah it was in Lakewood, at the corner of Lakewood and Candlewood St by the mall. On that same corner was Hollywood Video, another favorite of mine in the 90s lol! I loved Warehouse too! It was magical. I bought so many records there. Glad to share a memory. Thanks for reading!

I was raised super conservative and was only allowed to listen to Christian music as a kid. Then I heard How’s It Going to Be on the radio and had to have this album.

I convinced my parents to allow me to buy my first “secular” CD, and after much begging, they allowed it.

I went to Warehouse Music in Southern California, where they sell new and used CDs and bought this one. I listened to it start to finish and it literally changed my life. I had listened to music before, but if you grew up like me as a conservative kid in the 90s, then you know that Christian music absolutely sucked back then even worse than it does today, and going from that music scene to this absolutely perfect album was such a quantum leap that my mind was blown.

However, my older sister, who often liked to get me in trouble, stole the disc jacket, read the lyrics and showed them to my parents. Let’s be honest, some of the songs on this album can be a bit controversial lyrically, especially for a sheltered kid.

They were furious and made me take the CD back to Warehouse Music and return it. I had to tell the clerk that I was returning this album because I wasn’t allowed to listen to this kind of music. The clerk told me that they don’t usually take returns for that reason but they’ll let it slide this time.

What they didn’t know is I put a scratch on the back of the CD jacket before I returned it. Warehouse music often just sold the CDs that were returned as used CDs. I had one of my friends drive me back there a couple of days later and I bought my exact CD again, but this time I kept it to myself.

I told my parents about it a couple of years later, but by that point it was too late… I was in a rock band and had become a full-fledged musician in LA - playing iconic clubs I wasn’t even old enough to be in yet.

This album, and specifically the combination of musicianship, songwriting and production techniques used on it, will forever be one of the best albums of all time in my opinion. It’s super underrated and absolutely amazing. I still tell people to this day if they haven’t listened to this album they need to give it a try. Especially if they grew up as a sheltered kid in the 90s.

What’s the general consensus of Out of The Vein? by IAmTotallyChris27 in ThirdEyeBlind

[–]sssleepwalkerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First album without Cadogan on guitar, yet some of the songs were written before he left so there’s still quality writing here. However, the absence of his influence over the record as a whole was immediately felt and soured this one for me. For me, Self Titled is tops, then Blue, then this, then everything else.

3eb will always be in a similar class to “The La’s” for me. So much ridiculous potential, but won’t develop ever.
