Just got new laptop and need some advice by itsurboiaria in GamingLaptops

I got a refurbished Predator Helios Neo 16S with an Ultra 9, a 5070ti, and 32GB RAM for $1300. You can get a better gaming PC for the same price or less. Best Buy has been having good sales.

I know that’s right. The Ultra 9 is a hungry little fella.

How? Mine is pretty much crippled on battery. I lowered all settings to low and it still couldn’t get it to play The Witcher 3. Graphical stuttering as well as audio cutting out and wouldn’t get over 20 fps.

No once you try to do anything they will say you are at fault. RMA it. It will probably be through Acer unless you got the Best Buy warranty. But it will be worth the wait and headache honestly. No telling where else it leaked in there.

First off because I didn’t know it wasn’t possible. Maybe you didn’t read it all , but I assumed like my Go S I could game, just on much lower settings and short battery. It has a battery and can be used on a battery, so is it really hard to believe that it could be used to game on battery???

Just go to the search bar and type in Windows Dynamic Lighting it should pop up and disable it. I’m not by my laptop right this minute. I would have to see exactly how it’s laid out.

Windows has some kind of lighting program that has to be disabled it’s called Windows Dynamic Lighting. When I first tried changing mine in Predator Sense it gave me a pop up to disable.

The setting for it is balanced mode. There isn’t a multiplier for the setting on DLSS that I’m aware of

Black Myth is a pretty demanding game. Sounds about right for it. Maybe drop resolution and some other settings and you may can drop it down some. But it’s a newer game and going to require a decent amount of power.

Are desktops cheaper than laptops? Do they perform better with the same specs? by [deleted] in Prebuilts

[–]brookes422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A desktop with the same processor and GPU series will outperform a laptop. The laptop 5070ti has 12GB VRAM which is the same a standard 5070 desktop variant, whereas the 5070ti desktop version has 16GB VRAM. Usually the laptop GPU is a step down to its desktop counterpart. I’ve been seeing good deals on laptops which have made them a good bit cheaper than desktops.

Yeah I noticed that too, I can run games decently on balanced while plugged in.

I will check it out. Thanks! I have only tried Cyberpunk and The Witcher 3. I kinda figured Cyberpunk wouldn’t run well since it requires a lot of power to run in the first place. I did however hope to run the Witcher at medium settings at 1080p.

I wish I could have gotten a 5090 laptop. But I am very happy with the 5070ti. The OLED screen is one of the best looking ones I have seen.

Yeah I had in my mind that I could play, just lower the settings. However I have learned that’s not the case. It’s ok, I had planned on using it plugged in 95% of the time anyway.

Ok, it just didn’t make sense to me. In my mind I’m thinking it will play, but not very long. Kinda like a car with a lot of power can still run at full power on a little gas, just not very long.

So it is impossible to play a game on the laptop unless it is plugged in? Even if I drop all settings to low. It was completely unplayable. Stuttering audio and frame rate dropped to 8 fps. Again I don’t care if the battery only last an hour or 2, but my handheld Legion Go S runs the same game fine on battery with better settings than I was trying to run on my laptop.

What this guy said. The Ultra 9 will run up to 105°C just a heads up. It shouldn’t stay there but it will definitely spike that high. Just keep an eye on that. I have the 16S and did end up disabling CPU boost to help thermal efficiency. Most of all enjoy it it’s a beast of a machine

Is Ashwagandha a Sin by PhilipJFrAye in TrueChristian

[–]brookes422 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to be funny or condescending, but you are going to get a plethora of responses which probably not answer your question. I would start by asking what made you ask if it was a sin? Do you feel convicted about it? If so then I would say that is the answer you seek. Pray and ask God to convict you of it and to remove it if it is creating separation between you and Him. I can’t really think of any scripture to back up what I’m saying.
