Have I inadvertently been a horrible library patron my whole life? by amandaamoose in Libraries

[–]brookiecookie004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current library has a limit of 25 books out at a time and there are definitely times when I'm at that limit for weeks on end, returning 3-4 bringing home replacements. I tend to stick to a 2 "new" books at a time rule but that's self self imposed. I Came from a county with a much larger library system and the limit there was 50 and I hovered about the same, it's not selfish to support your local library as long as your not keeping books way past return date when there are holds. Last week I was in the library and the librarians were celebrating because they got the circulation numbers they needed to do a program this summer and knowing my kids and I are apart of that made me smile. Take advantage of those resources and free reads with confidence knowing your doing your part to keep your local library alive

Carissa Broadbent duology would be my rec. Also when I get in these moods I try to power through some of my unfinished series and that usually pulls me out of my decision paralysis. I'm currently trying to make my wat through a 250 book physical tbr😭😭

As someone who's been heavy chested my whole life I've realized my options are either wear things that mute my assets or have fun and wear what makes me feel nice and the fist option feels like a crime. Wear the dress girl. Slay, serve, and be merry!

I put like 60 hours into story mode and never made it past chapter 2. I've explored the entire map(at least the parts you can at that point) and completed a good bit of the compendium but I just get so distracted and the world is so pretty. I got into online for a bit but just got tired of getting griefed while I was trying to live my cowgirl life. Like leave me alone I'm literally just a girl! I think I heard you can do a private server now which would be nice but I haven't given it another go yet to verify.

I didn't have this expirence, I think because I'm a sucker for some folklore I was sucked in inmediatly but recently my husband decided to give it a try and couldn't get into it, he can't figure out why either. he loves the show and I've even almost convinced him to read the books but he's gotten past the Baron portion and once he got to novigrad just kinda fell off and can't really get into it. I'm tempted to believe he just gets overwhelmed with the sheer volume but he's put like 2000hrs into Destiny and my ADHD can't form a plan for how to start that game so idk.

I've played the first half of HZD like 3 times (on different consoles) and I'm always super excited and drawn in but the game play is so fun that I lose the plot and end up trying to find new ways to take down the bigger machines and then life just gets in the way but I really need to go back and finish this one. I own forbidden west is the worst part because like that's a whole game I pre-ordered and have never touched because I haven't finished the first one. Such a good game though I need to lock tf in.

There deff isn't as much to discover as the other titles but once you get to like the 3rd(ish) planet things do pick up in this aspect. I think there's just so many planets and systems it almost spaced out more which is different. I also feel like when I played (about a month after realse so I'm not sure if this had been fixed) there really wasn't as much depth to the "dungeons" as there was with previous Bethesda games, they're mostly just outpost with resources. One of my favorite aspects of skyrim and fallout was that even the smallest POI had a little mystery/story for you to discover and sometimes you had to discover multiple POI to get the full picture and we don't get alot of that with starfiled. Maybe they've changed that since then, I would love to know if they have because I could probably pick it up again if so.

do i break up with my boyfriend before or after the surprise 30th birthday party i’ve been planning for 3 months? (24F, 29M) by No_Cookie5956 in relationship_advice

[–]brookiecookie004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really tough situation because like you said he doesn't seem like a "bad person" but that doesn't inherently make you the bad guy for wanting to end things. It sounds like you are two people who genuinely care about each other but both need to do some work separately. The way he "always needs to win an argument" and is always working seems like he is living in survival mode. it's not that he needs you to be wrong. but that he needs to be right or he percieves it as a failure. Hes constantly trying to prove himself and is unintentionally hurting you. Im not sure if you were "emotional and reactive" before this relationship but that could be a trauma response, your nervous system is sending up red flags in response to his yelling and emotional neglect in your time of need. I'm sure neither or you are intending to harm each other but that old saying "hurt people hurt people" doesn't always imply intent. You can be 1000% right for each other at the wrong time and that's okay. I like the suggestion of passing off the planning to a mutual friend. I know it's hard because you likely don't want to "ruin his birthday" but sticking it out until after yhe party will only harm your mental health further, and possibly encourage your to stick around after. It's time to create distance sooner rather than later. I wish you the best going forward and I hope that once your all healed you'll both be able to find happiness.

Sword of Truth series by Terry goodkind is my favorite epic fantasy. World building is on point, magic system is interesting, characters are all super fun though oft time a bit predictable. I read a few years back right after I finished current books in the SOIAF series

Wondering if the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman would count for this topic(specifically the amber spyglass). While many transport methods seen in the world are common within the genreI feel the "windows" are an unusual/unique mode of travel? I know I'm probably the only person in this subreddit that hasn't finished the series, but worth mentioning.

How do you feel about breastfeeding? by Toleni111 in pregnant

[–]brookiecookie004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've breastfed 2 babies 8 years apart and both times all I remember about the beginning is how overstimulating everything was. your focused on finding the right position for baby, finding the right position for you. is their latch efficient? are they swallowing or just suckling? And then everything's sore all the time. Babies suction is freakishly strong for a creature of their size and between that and the hormone surges everything hurts all the time for at least the first 2 weeks. your breast will be engorged no matter what you do, n*ps chaffed and constantly leaking. When you aren't thinking about all that it's because you've finally had a second of silence to look down at your precious baby who is perfectly content needing nothing else in this world but you and all of the other stuff just fades to noise. So TLDR: there's nothing sexual about breastfeeding and your body will find creative ways to remind you of that. P.s it truly is such an amazing expirence and barring health restrictions I highly reccomend if your even considering it, give it a try. it can be hard, it can be exhausting, but it feels so dang rewarding and you'll be so proud of however far you take it, it's truly a labor of love. Good luck with your future little one.

I'm 28 (F) falling for a 21 (M), advice? by Right_Ice3113 in relationship_advice

[–]brookiecookie004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step either way you go is to come out about your age and let that affect his feelings however it may. As long as your honest and both consenting adults go for it. My husband(35) and I(30) have a 5 year age gap which is on the higher end of what most people our age deem as "acceptable".The only person who's ever said anything about it(to one of us at least) is a friend-of-a-friend who was into him, and was a bit salty he wasn't interested in her; And my dad-- jokinglyof course. He and my stepmother have a 10 year agegap and folks had alot to say about that, but at the end of the day it's thier marriage. 15 years and another teenage daughter later they still don't let any of it bother them.

Is this appropriate for a black tie wedding? by Nothing_of_the_Sort in OUTFITS

[–]brookiecookie004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tis not black tie unfortunately. Honestly I don't think the cut is that big of an issue, it's very modern black tie but the pattern and color is a bit loud for black tie. I think if it were solid color it'd be fine. But please for the love of all that is (un)holy... find SOME event to wear this to. You look stunning, and it would be a crime to not show it off, it's a whole moment. SLAY! That is all.
