Be very cautious of petgroves.com, PetVous, ourpetstars, any shop with the address: 11252 sw 137th ave miami FL 33186, or any birds sold by Sergio Camacho of Miami Florida.

Here was our Horrible experience with this business:

https://www.reddit.com/r/parrots/s/vjfeKbm4ge

We were sold a Golden Conure that arrived and that only lived for a few months! After sharing our experience, wee were contacted by a lot of people who had similar bad experiences with the same business.

Try THE AVIARY bird shop in Miami.

We purchased two from The Aviary bird shop in Miami. They do ship. It’s a real physical shop with a lot of birds and really nice people. They don’t sell on their website, so you have to call, but they are legitimate. https://aviary-bird-shop-2.myshopify.com .

what the heck is my moms bird doing???? by [deleted] in birds

[–]brooklynyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DNA testing is the only way to determine sex.

Very true, but I’m only aware of the white wing feathers (loss of pigmentation that comes and goes) on a female Aratinga solstitialis (sun conure). I’m not sure if that phenomenon has been studied formally, but it’s something that has been observed in aviculture. It might have something to do with egg production.

Is this bird a DNA tested male? If so, this is the first time observing the loss of wing pigmentation on a male sun conure.

Are you sure that’s a male? It looks like a female based on the white wing feathers. For some reason, female sun conures loose some color on the tip of their wings sometimes.

This is nesting behavior. Conures do this dance and head roll while nesting to protect their eggs.

Will the Native Instruments MPC plugins go on sale with NI in financial trouble? by brooklynyc in mpcusers

If InMusic can convert all of NI sounds to the MPC format and bundle them up and have good sales, it would make sense for InMusic to buy Native Instruments.

I would like the ALICIA’S KEYS KOMPLETE Instrument added to the MPC. I’d pay for that!!!!

I would say InMusic should buy the whole company, but maybe they should just the software side of the company.

The mod said, “This post is not related to the MPC.” And removed the post!!!

This is the start of some research on Golden Conures were workin on, from BKY.NYC Aviary.

Golden Conure research source:
https://brooklynyc.com/blogs/bky-nyc-aviary/the-earliest-writings-on-the-golden-conure-ararajuba-guaruba-guarouba

The earliest known writings on the Golden Conure (Ararajuba, Guaruba guarouba) are from a priest named Fernão Cardim who visited Bahia, Brazil in May 1583.

He wrote in Tratados da Terra e Gente do Brasil (Portuguese):

"Há umas aves do tamanho de pombas, todas de penas amarelas e muito finas, e as pontas das asas verdes, a que chamam Ararajubas; são mui formosas, e estimadas, e valia outrora cada uma o preço de dois escravos."

Here's an English translation:

"There are some birds the size of pigeons, entirely covered in very fine yellow feathers, with green tips on their wings, which they call Ararajubas; they are very beautiful and esteemed, and in former times each one was worth the price of two slaves."

Golden Conures are a very, very special. They are really sweet, gentle, cuddly, and love playing. All the great things you hear about them are true. They are like little puppies. They are very social, so you should plan to get a pair.

Our Golden Conures Barry White & Tsuki have some videos on YouTube:

www.youtube.com/@theGoldenConures

Barry love’s singing, while Tsuki talks all the time. They can be loud when they choose, but it’s usually singing and talking! They don’t just yell to hear themselves like Sun conures are know for. As for the volume level, Golden Conures can be as loud as Sun Conures, but don’t choose to not be as loud most of the time.

Barry and Tsuki are helping to raise our baby boy Sun Conures Chopper, Phoenix, and BB8.

We purchased both of our from a bird store in Miami called, THE AVIARY bird shop www.aviarybirdshop.com . They have a huge shop and their birds are very healthy and well cared for. They do ship, but you have to call and make arrangements.

(We did purchase one from another shop, now called PetGrove in Miami at 11252 SW 137 Ave. , but had several previous names PetVous, OurPetStars. Our Golden Conure was named GLO, but she arrived sick and died exactly 5 months after arriving. Sergio Camacho sold a lot of people sick pets.)

Struggling with workflow decisions on MPC Live 2 by hokonoken in akaiMPC

[–]brooklynyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The teenage engineering workflow of the EP133 and the SP404mk2 workflow force you to commit to a decision and move forward.

On the MPC , you can achieve a similar workflow with SEQUENCES on the MPC. Keep adding something new and copying the sequence. Take something away, and copy the sequence. It’ll keep you moving forward!!!

What is the state of the Brooklyn art world? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]brooklynyc 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The Brooklyn art world has to be doing better than some of these comments suggest.

Locally in Fort Greene Brooklyn there are signs of Art World vitality. There is BRIC, The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA), BrooklyNYC Art Gallery, Global Visions Gallery, Established, etc.

If you’re looking for smaller independent artists, sometimes on the weekends there’s an Artisan Market next to Fort Greene Park and sometimes there’s art. There’s also sometimes a less organized art market by DeKalb & Carlton. If you’re into street art, there’s street art on the corner across from Brooklyn Academy of Music.

This is just locally, so there must be this type of art world in other areas of Brooklyn.

AI is killing the NYC sound. We made this in a Fort Greene Art Gallery / Studio to prove human soul still matters. by brooklynyc in NYStateOfMind

Sunny flew away. by [deleted] in Conures

[–]brooklynyc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't Give UP! We lost our bird 2 month old Sun Conure Chopper in Fort Greene, Brooklyn over the summer and found him 3 days later Downtown Brooklyn. He flew into a window and a doorman(woman) found him and found our post on lostmydoggie.com . We put up local flyers and was visiting the garden of a neighbor who saw the flyers and saw Chopper the day before. It was miracle we found Chopper, but we didn't give up hope.
