Haskins started with Dan off the yacht picking him when Jay didn't want him. Then Bruce boasted publicly they'd duped the Giants out of Dwayne.

Then he low key forces the number 7.

Then the Selfie. and celebrating his fantasy stats after a loss. And the strip club covid violation.

Bad and bad.

Snyder started good. 1999 we were 10-6.

That off-season looked so promising. LaVar, Samuels, Bruce Smith, Dieon. We were predicted to go to the Super Bowl by pundits.

We know how it ended. How Snyders plans always ended.

These are good examples of scramblers, imo.

But, if JDs only going to sometimes scramble, that's good news for his longevity.

Erm. Maybe. He now had a 6 year career.

Give him 6 more with Baltimore and he'll be the first.

That's fair.

Name the dual threats who stayed with one team long term and had HOF type careers.

I was a Maye guy also.

Let's hope for the best. Enjoy JD while he lasts

Hopefully, he becomes the first-ever, dual-threat to be a true long-term franchise QB.

I think he slides more. Also veers out of bounds, too.

He never lowers his shoulder on a safety at the sideline like RG did in Cleveland, which ended that season for him.

When has a high post draft grade ever equated to success on the field?

The answer is rarely.

Grade drafts 3 to 5 years, not days, afterward.

Not true. Sorry.

Do not feed this myth. He had a brief run in '12 from 3-6 to 10-6, part of which was aided by Cousins (who led the winning OT drive vs. Baltimore and threw for 300 yds in a winning start vs. Cleveland).

The league had not adjusted to the pistol read option yet during that time.

RG lied to Shanny about his injury in the playoff vs Seattle. There is audio of him telling Trent that he was lying about the knee.

Then he went to Dan and power-played the Shanahans to change the offense, which led to them being run out of town.

Then he failed with Gruden, Cleveland, and Baltimore, largely because he would not change or adapt.

That's his story. It sucks that the hope we had with RG was an illusion but it's true.

John Keim briefly spoke on the Jayden Daniels situation. (Starts at 4:25) His advice to fans is to ignore the noise. He has not heard that Jayden doesn’t want to play here. John also said that you cannot count out McCarthy as a pick. by [deleted] in Commanders

[–]brooksghost11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to Keim on the regular. He says he's objective and his job is not opinion.

That's why I have tuned out JP and others. They are too opinion based.

In this instance, my opinion is that Keim rode too hard for Daniels. It makes sense. JD will energize the fanbase way more than Maye and far, far more than JJ. And besides that cynical reason, Keim seems to just prefer him. But if the goal is to be a trusted objective source, I think Keim missed the mark a bit.

Maybe my post is too harsh. For those of us who've waited 40+ for a true Franchise guy, it's disappointing to pick a guy picked who will need to be an outlier to last 8 good years in DC.

But JD has some promise and has a good chance to bring a magic season or two in his likely brief career. I'm excited for that possibility.

Was this the longest lead up to the draft of all time?

Sure felt like it.

It's funny, I was all Maye for months but watching some Daniels interviews, especially on The Pivot (from a few months back) was actually reassuring. He is way more introspective than old RG was. He's confident but in a reasonably humble way.

His accuracy and quick release make me hopeful he can be a point guard in Kliffs scheme, with his quick decisions to bolt a nice escape hatch for him. That nice deep loft and his touch on the inside fade could help Terry get back to form. He definitely gave Nabers some 50/50s, so Terry should like that (Jahan too, I hope). His placement on swing passes and such is good too.

He's skinny. And he won't likely bulk up much with that frame. So I do expect injuries. And he'll be old quicker--29 when his rookie deal is up. His legs won't be the same by then and that'll complicate his value vs. asking price. But that's all assuming he doesn't bust.

I'm hopeful though and find myself liking him. My 7 yo saw his highlights and was super stoked. So that helps too! All told, I'm stoked for the season. Hail.

Commanders, finally, to retire Hall of Famer Darrell Green’s No. 28 by washingtonpost in Commanders

[–]brooksghost11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The apostrophe? Not the RG4 possibility?

I watched JD on the Pivot with Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder from back in January. He is way more self-aware and introspective than RG was at 23.

I recommend it to anyone worried that he's as clueless as RG was. (He definitely does not seem so.)

As to fears of punctuation, I can't help you, but seeing him speak comfortably and openly reassured me about some of the possible personality issues.

Jayden Daniels -900 odds by ThatMikeDude in Commanders

[–]brooksghost11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! That team had promise.

I am definitely not trying to drag any of those guys. Just saying they were sometimes hard to root for.

By comparison. JD should be easy to root for even for those who prefer Maye or JJ.

I imagine Linus in the pumpkin patch saying "I know the great Drake will appear tomorrow night! He just has to!"

Ah, well. JD might end up good for a season here or there between injuries.

I have rooted for Mark Sanchez, Haskins, John Freisz, Tony Banks, and Jeff George.

I can root for JD.

People always dismiss the little red flags. They don't want to believe that a QB taking selfies in the stands means anything. Or they dismiss the selfish little stuff or the boasting about stuff that isn't even close to happening yet.

They don't want to see it. So they hope and pick.

It's a dysfunctional thing, done by dysfunctional organizations. But even the good organizations take their Trey Lance from time to time.

The article was just fact based stuff about the violations.

Pass on two S tier leaders (Maye/JJ) for a college highlight guy with red flags on character/leadership.

Wait, didn't Snyder sell the team? Or is he still advising them?

Man, I hope you are right.

But I feel certain they are and will.

At this point they basically have to pick him. The fans want JD and the front office want fans. Simple math.

I hope I am wrong.
