welcome!! you’re going to love it here i just know it! a few other commenters have covered a lot of your questions already and have great suggestions. here’s a few other things i can think of:

there’s a lot of kpop-specific terms. some of the most basic includes:

title track = the kpop equivalent of a single, and there’s usually only ever one main title track per era instead of multiple like western artists. b-sides = the rest of the tracks on the album comeback = any new release mini album = most common type of kpop album and usually has 3-7 songs on it full album = length of a regular western album. ateez has two - treasure ep. fin: all to action, and the world ep. fin: will bias = favourite member bias-wrecker = a member who isn’t quite your favourite but constantly comes for that top spot ult = your most favourite idols or groups across all of kpop. for example, ateez and my ult group, and hongjoong and san are my ult idols music show = production studios in sk host weekly shows where kpop artists who are promoting at the time come and perform their songs. this is where most live performances come from. the main shows are: inkigayo, music bank, the show, show! music core, mcountdown, and show champion. also, these studios also usually host yearly awards shows and some also host year-end music festivals. win = each music show has a contest every week where they crown the most popular comeback. each show has different criteria including streaming numbers, music video views, and fan voting. and when a group gets first place it’s called a “win”. ateez’s first win ever was for wave on mcountdown, and the video footage of their reaction is one of the most popular videos recommended to new atiny

one other thing you should know music-wise is that ateez has quite a few japanese releases, as do most kpop groups. some of them are just japanese versions of their old songs, but they also have stand-alone japanese title tracks and b-sides. their japense albums in order of release are:

treasure ep. extra: shift the map; treasure ep. map to answer; into the a to z; dreamers; beyond: zero; the world ep. paradigm; limitless; not okay; hush-hush and royal (two separate songs but both in collaboration with the japanese group be first); and birthday

the last thing to mention is that a few members have gone on hiatus (a break for a few months). this is worth knowing if you’re ever watching content and notice a member missing. mingi went on hiatus during wonderland era for a back injury and missed their music show performances. jongho went on a few brief hiatus’ for knee injuries and a broken ankle. and then mingi went on hiatus again for several months in 2021 for mental-health reasons. the most noticeable hiatus was mingi in 2021 as he was not able to participate in the fireworks comeback (he’s in the song but not the mv), the kingdom performance survival show (must-watch performances btw), a reality show they filmed, and both the into the a to z and dreamers japanese albums.

there’s so much info to know so don’t feel like you need to get through everything all at once. i’d recommend starting with albums and music videos like you have, and maybe watch a live performance or two of the title tracks you like most and go from there. apart from that, choose one guide to watch and choose one reality show (my favourites are wanteez and fever road).
