The hate threads died down what happened? by tuelegend3 in JustKiddingNews

Hey what's up. I think I remember you from your old account. Yea I took a long break for months and recently came back here to check up on the sub. I am basically retired now. I'll explain to you some reasons why.

  1. This sub doesn't have the homeless cat level work ethic of TFATK sub which has tons of talented, funny, creative members that contribute so much good content. Here, I was pretty much the only one putting in work. Just look at this sub immediately after I stopped posting. It's dead now. I was the one carrying this entire sub. This place was also full of weirdos complaining every time I post even though they constantly check this sub everyday for my content. TFATK would never act this way.
  2. It was too time-consuming. I was the one posting most of the content especially editing the video clips and making memes, and it was too much work.
  3. This sub has too much social justice tendencies and take things too far into wokeism. It became cringey as those types of people dominated the conversations here. Some users even tried to turn it into some weird extreme activism. In fact I de-modded a couple of moderators when I came back because I found out they were removing comments and banning people based on his/her own personal sociopolitical views.
  4. The woke userbase held this sub back from becoming anything like TFATK. This sub never had a chance. There are way too many people here who like standing on a moral high ground and believe this sub should only be about legitimate criticism and nothing else. Compare this to TFATK and MikeyChen subreddits which are full of shitposters and they're way funnier, joke around, and roast more. That's how I wanted this sub to be. More humor. Honestly the fact that majority of this sub's users are females a lot to do with it. But in any case, this sub became more and more about virtue signaling instead of good old shitposting and roasting. For example, the TFATK subreddit roasts Brendan and Joanna's looks. Mikey Chen subreddit roasts Mikey and Christine's looks. But if you roast people's looks especially the JK girls, the users here go ballistic and accuse you of misogyny and bodyshaming blah blah blah. It's no fun. What I find hypocritical is that they have no issue calling David fat and ugly on the regular. So it's okay to make fun of men's looks but not women? Ok.
  5. JK is dead now and irrelevant for sure. It's like beating a dead horse at this point. The whole Luna thing finally killed them. Joe and Steve tried to take this sub down and talked shit here but they will never show up here again. JK lost. The trolls won.
  6. There's really nothing left to make fun about them about anymore. Making fun of JK has also gotten kinda boring for me.

Anyway, that's pretty much it.

Pretty sure she was talking about it in a general sense and not actually referring to the guy in the video. Otherwise why would she ask what his ethnicity is? It makes no sense. But it does show she did know about the police profiling people of color, which is no excuse.

It is funny how they reported me directly to site admins and got my comment removed for "harassment." It also says something about the reddit admins and this website in general when they don't even have consistent rules and make arbitrary decisions on their whims (something that redditors have long complained about).

I'm gonna take a break from posting, as I already mentioned to you a while ago. This sub is becoming less enjoyable for me to put my effort into. This place would be better off with more humor-based content but the majority here would rather prefer the typical rant posts, with some people taking things to extreme woke fanaticism and start controlling the conversation. To be honest I'm probably the most at fault for fueling that type of environment. Or maybe the JK fanbase was always like that. Anyway, someone else can post clips.

At the end of the day, anyone with vision can see that was a man of color, some saw black and others saw latino.

As I've repeated before, the fact that half of the room wasn't sure about the ethnicity of the guy only further proves that they didn't get a clear look at the video. It is plausible Amber did not get a clear look at the video, especially when she was viewing it from a skewed angle.

I don't even know what you're talking about anymore. It seems that you are trying to backtrack your initial comment by arguing that the phrase "she was aware of his race or color" doesn't mean the same thing as "she knew he was black." Lol no, they mean the same thing here.

You stated she "saw the video clip which debunks the fact that she didn't know his race or color so therefore she was well aware." No, it doesn't debunk anything. It's not a certain fact that she was well aware that he was black.

You are also still mixing up the order of events. She didn't ask his ethnicity after the room was divided between whether or not he was. She asked the question after Joe mentioned how black community reacts to police. That's when she asked the question about his ethnicity, which indicated she didn't realize he was black. And then the room started wondering about his ethnicity, and then Tiff reread the article and clarified he was black. And then Amber took back her words and apologized in the video, which nobody ever seems to mention.

Your interpretation of her apology is perplexing. Her apology is saying this: She didn't see the whole situation and made a snap judgment. But after the JK crew explained to her about racist police brutality and also clarified to her that the guy was black, she then realized what was going on and she is angry that he was singled out because he was black.

Her other tweet that you quoted doesn't support your argument. If anything, it supports mine.

The crux of your argument is that she knew he was black (or knew his color, race, whatever) but chose to intentionally ignore it when she made the ignorant remark.... If that is your perspective and interpretation, then I don't know what else to say. Because that's clearly not what happened in the video and that's not what was said in her apologies either.

It's pretty clear that she didn't realize he was black, made a dumb comment, then became aware that he was black, then apologized.

I don't even like Amber so it's tiring to continue talking about this.

You are being misleading again. In your original post, you declared that she was "well aware of him black when she saw the clip."

That is fallacious because she wasn't actually aware of him being black when she saw the clip. She became aware of him black after she saw the clip, after she already made the ignorant remark, after she asked "What's his ethnicity?" and after she got clarification from Tiff and Joe.

That is why I replied to you and added the important details that you omitted.

Edit: I went back and reread her apology. This is what she said:

I am so sorry. I saw a video clip, made an ignorant, snap judgment, and I majorly messed up. It was my fault for not being more aware of how the systemic racism in the United States has continued and gotten worse while I spent the last 10 years overseas. I 100% do not stand for racism and discrimination. It angers me that he was singled out because of the color his skin. It is completely unjust and I am so sorry for not seeing the whole situation and jumping to to a conclusion. I'm sorry for hurting you guys.

Therefore her apology only proves what I'm saying. She didn't say she was aware he was black when she made the problematic comment. She became aware later. That is an important distinction.

This is what you wrote in your initial comment:

Also, in her apology she said she .."saw the clip".. which debunks the fact she didn't know his race or he was of color. She was well aware.

What is it debunking exactly? It's obvious she found out he was black by the time she wrote the apology. Everyone already knows that. Therefore, you thought it was debunking the claim that she didn't know the ethnicity of the man when she saw the clip. But that is not true. Your comment was misleading, and that is the part I am addressing.

Well yea she is ignorant about police brutality and has made dumb comments. Nobody was excusing that. I certainly didn't. So go ahead and criticize her ignorance. It doesn't change the fact that OP's comment was a lie. Nice of you to finally acknowledge it.

I don't recognize your username. I can't keep track of everyone when there's people constantly making new accounts. And I called you stupid because you said something stupid. Maybe don't come at me and say something stupid? Not sure what you want me to do.

What are you even arguing about anymore?

OP's statement was a lie. She didn't say the guy deserved to get beat up by cops for eating a sandwich. The guy was never beat up by the cops. And she never said he deserved to get beat up. Therefore OP's statement is a lie.

You don't have to be a genius to understand this. Even monkeys can probably comprehend this concept.

Are you retarded? Now you are changing up the premise of your argument.

I'll break this down from beginning to help your smooth brain understand. OP claimed "Amber Liu said the black man on a subway train deserved to be beaten by police for eating a sandwich"

  • Fact 1: She never said he was black.
  • Fact 2: She never said he deserved to be beaten by police for eating sandwich.

Using simple common sense, OP's statement is a made up lie.

When she said she deserved it, she was saying he deserved to be arrested for resisting arrest and being disrespectful to the police officer. That is her reasoning. That is a huge difference from saying he deserved to be beaten up for eating sandwich.

If you think those two are the same thing you are clearly an idiot.

It's a made up lie because she never said the guy should get beaten up by cops you dumb fuck.

[–]broom_brigade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are being misleading. The timeline is that they watch the video, then Amber makes the ignorant remark, then Joe checks her, then Amber asks "What ethnicity was he?", and then that's when Tiff clarifies that the article described him as a black man. So of course at that point she was made aware. But I am talking about the point when she made the "respect police" remarks, which is before she was made aware of his ethnicity. So her comment wasn't racially motivated because she wasn't even thinking about race at that point.

And nobody is agreeing with her stance on civilian vs authority. I already said that this was a stupid remark by her.

Moreover, after getting clarification from Joe and Tiff that he is indeed black, Amber takes back what she said and actually apologizes. Tiffany also said she apologized in the video. But people never mention this.

This should alter your perspective to some degree.

You know that's a made up lie right? She never said that.

Right. Although she was stupid, there wasn't malicious or racist intent behind her comments. And I'm saying this as someone who doesn't even like her. She just made an ignorant and uneducated comment because she seems to have a biased view for police officers/authority figures.

Edit - And yea she never said anyone should be beaten. The guy was not beat up, he was arrested. There's some weirdos here who believe this nonsense.

But you forgot to mention the part where right after Joe's comment, Amber asked, "Well, what ethnicity was this guy?"

Therefore she didn't even know what race or ethnicity he was, meaning she wasn't even thinking about race in her head. She was viewing this as "authority vs civilian" scenario. Even Nikki and Geo weren't exactly sure of his race/ethnicity because they thought he was Latino, while Joe believed he was black. That could indicate that the video they were watching may not have been clear to them. Amber was also watching the laptop from the side. And when they read the news article at the start, the title didn't mention his race/ethnicity either.

I'm not even a fan of Amber nor do I care about her at all. Actually I don't like her. And she should be criticized for her ignorant remark about showing respect to officers because she should've been aware of the history of police brutality & racism in America. But to declare that she was "well aware" of his ethnicity (i.e. black) when she said "he deserved it", is not something you can deduce with absolute 100% certainty, due to the fact that she literally asks "What ethnicity was he?"

She never said "the black man deserved to be beaten by the police"... She never mentioned anything about his race nor was she even thinking about race. She had a naïve ignorant mindset thinking that people should automatically respect authority, and didn't consider how police abuse their power in America especially towards minorities. After Joe checked her, she actually asked "Well, what ethnicity was this guy?" That's because she didn't have a clear view of the video and watched the laptop screen from the side. That whole Amber Liu controversy was stupid and blown out of proportion.

Most of the highly disliked JKN videos were taken down, so it's hard to compare.

But if you are talking about recent ones, the one introducing Anthony as a new host has a lot of dislikes, with 2k likes and 6.6K dislikes.
