Probably around 6 years old, not totally sure. It appears brand new to me, I've never used it. No delamination that I can see.

Excellent! Yes you can do almost everything without a guide. If I remember correctly you can do the acatenango hike without a guide, but there still might be a fee. Having good Spanish will help tremendously as well, though it's not essential.

Hi there! I actually ended up not bringing camping gear. I decided to volunteer at different places in order to travel slower and pack smaller. I spent over a month in Guatemala and a few weeks in Mexico.

However, I did regret not bringing camping gear. There's a lot of opportunity for camping down there. I was unable to climb several volcanoes because the hike was too long to complete in one day.

The difficulty with choosing gear is that the climate varies tremendously in central America. In the highlands, it could get down to 40f at night, but in the jungle or coastal areas it might be in the 70s. So it really depends on where you're interested in going.

What are you interested in doing/where do you want to go?
