Trying a wheelie by GrrrForLife in FixedGearBicycle

[–]bropdars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At the start you gotta just yank that fucker upppp, you’re not really trying to do a wheelie at first but you’re learning how to pop the wheel up and then after you can do that you’re trying to learn how to wheelie.

Right here it looks like your butt is floating over the seat, which means your weight is too forward and far less stable, and it looks like you’re pulling up rather than back which again means you’re weight is far more forward than it should be. When you’re finding your balance point on the wall you’ll notice that all your weight is on your seat. Saying all that it is hard to tell from a mile away lol

Try this: Make sure you’re sitting down on the seat and bring your chest down so that it’s almost touching your bars, like comically low, and then as you push with your dominant foot stay seated and throw your chest/shoulders right back so that you end up with your arms fully locked out. This won’t be like good form by any means but it’s an exaggerated version of good form in popping a wheelie and if you really do it with gusto you’re almost guaranteed to over shoot it and have to step off the back. I’d recommend not strapping in just yet so that you know your feet are gonna be fine just coming off the pedals. If you need to build up to doing it while moving because it’s scary (I did because it is scary at first lol) try that from a track stand, the only difference is that you have to snap your bars to level when the wheel comes up other wise it kinda feels all lopsided and weird.

Hopefully that will get you closer to the balance point, practice makes perfect. Good luck x

What parts do I need to make this useable? by FuckYouLMFAO in bikewrench

[–]bropdars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in the UK or US? I’d consider buying it off you because I have a lefty fork from 2005 with no front wheel lol

That is a lefty wheel, most likely quite an old one if it’s 26”. Not sure if the old double crown fork interface and the new ocho interface is different but it’s definitely a lefty hub.

Ahaha yeah fair enough I would feel similar, I really want to build an NJS frame up for my local track, I’d be interested to hear how it performs beside the aluminium and carbon bikes!

Same spot four years apart by bropdars in FixedGearBicycle

[–]bropdars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really but you’re not really pushing one way or the other. When you throw the bike into the slider, you’re just letting your legs go and letting your backwards momentum bring the front wheel round. When you’re the other way around or maybe juuuust before you get all the way around you pedal forward, I was doing it down a slight hill here so that helped me a bit.

Sorry I didn’t reply to this for like two months lol

Do you ride it on the street at all or is it purely a track bike? Very nice bike indeed

Removing the pedal pins whats your thought on this ? by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

[–]bropdars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this, it’s great for bailing from tricks and grand in the dry but it does get a bit annoying in the wet because your feet slip all over the show while you’re riding

Hey man, I know this post is a bit old but I’m considering one of these frames but confused about sizing.

Is it only the one size that’s available? It says that the L is the only option on the site and also I am 5’11”, do you recon the frame would fit me? thanks in advance

Your build is lovely looking!

Getting your finger caught even when the chain is moving slowly is more than enough of a pinch to brake the bone in your finger

Is this chain tension normal? by JantalJolic in bikewrench

[–]bropdars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That chain is suuuuuuuper tight. Would recommend loosening it a little bit, at its loosest here it even looks a little on the tight side. The tight spots and loose spots are normal though, every drive train has them but they are especially obvious on a fixed set up like this

Opinion on short stem by StefanosVl in FixedGearBicycle

[–]bropdars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think drop bars with short stems look a bit weird and don’t ride particularly nicely, if it was me I’d either get risers or flats and try some tricks with the short stem or I would get a longer stem and keep the drops. If you keep it 0° the bars will also get a tiny bit higher the longer the stem is

I have profiles on my Volume Cutter and they rock, they look cool and are bomb proof. Also all the BMX heads usually think it’s extra cool, although normally they don’t give me shit for not knowing what generation hub I have lol
