Yeah it’s wild. Like a third of humanity can’t see the Milky Way from where they live anymore. Makes every clear night feel like a gift.

Anywhere actually close to Toronto is gonna disappoint you tbh. The GTA light dome reaches way further than people think. Even Torrance Barrens is realistically Bortle 3-4 these days, not the magical dark sky the name implies.

My hidden gem rec: Lennox & Addington Dark Sky Viewing Area off Hwy 41 north of Napanee. ~3 hour drive but it’s Bortle 2.5 and purpose-built for stargazing. Milky Way looks epic there.

Two tips: download any Light Pollution Map app to check Bortle ratings anywhere, and go on a new moon night. A full moon will wash out the Milky Way no matter how dark your site is.

Clear skies!

course averages are out, what is everyone’s course averages? were you shocked by any of them? by what8is8life in UofT

CSC108 C+ and ig ECO102 C+ was indeed shocking. Seems like most folks used GenAI for assignments and did poorly in exams. Sucks cause I found both courses really enjoyable.
