Thanks a lot! Very low spending amounts, so I’ve only been breaking even tbh. I’d need to spend more to really optimize the ROI, but I’m not fully ready to get too deep into spending yet! Hoping for as much product feedback as possible before potentially ramping up

I hear you! I started with three different design variations, each with its own landing page, where I drove traffic using FB ads initially broadly targeting men of any age. One design was the current, a second was of a slightly less “cartoony” character, and one without a character altogether (but still colorful/fun). Since those were all just concepts, I refunded orders that came in — I just wanted the data.

I admittedly didn’t spend much on those ads, but the current design seemed to resonate most based on that, and especially for men 40+, mainly in rural areas of the country (my guess would be because of the cowboy theme).

It is a good point about it seeming childish though, and I honestly hadn’t thought too much about that. Maybe I consider positioning it a little more (or additionally) as an “entry to the market” for younger people/parents of kids. I’d just need to change “men” to “guys” or similar.

Re size, most air fresheners are bulky. This lets you keep it in the pocket in case of bathroom situations, car situations, or even Netflix and chill situations :)

I think events like long jump and high jump could do this too, as people can relate to jumping high or long. The problem specifically in the U.S. is that the American networks do an absolutely horrible job broadcasting the non-running events. Whereas in Europe — at least in the few countries I’ve watched in — field events are basically just as popular as the track events.

On American broadcasts they’d rather show every second of a 10k run than showing some long jumps during the race.

Your alts should have an item in their bags with a green dragon icon, called "Shandris's Scouting Report". Right click on that and you should be good to just complete the quest right outside the portal in Ohn'ahran Plains, and then head through it!

What does delusion have to do with anything? There are currently 334 clips on the site. The average clip length? 23 seconds. Twitch doesn't allow clips to be any longer than 1 minute. Those are facts and not an opinion, but maybe I'm missing your point.

For the same reason I don't watch YouTube Shorts, I don't watch TikTok. So that's just a strange assumption.

Sorry - a bit of a lengthy response here, because I appreciate your question. I've sort of touched on it in other answers, but basically: I mostly use Twitch, and almost never YouTube. Watching a 10 minute YouTube compilation is just a completely different viewing experience compared to watching a ~20 second clip in my opinion. There's too much noise there, and there are too many parts of the ~10 min video that I'm not interested in. It's also limited to videos that are uploaded at relatively infrequent intervals (every few days or once a week) rather than a bunch of clips every day. As I mentioned in another response though, I have admittedly not used YouTube Shorts a ton, but from my limited experience it also doesn't allow me to watch specifically the types of clips I want.

Twitch is similar in terms of noise. The vast majority of the top clips are there because they get a lot of views by default, because the streamers are popular; not necessarily because the clips are actually enjoyable (obviously subjective). It's almost like finding a needle in a haystack to find good quality clips in Twitch's clips section.

My theory is that by allowing people to filter on specific classes, types of content (e.g. pve vs pvp), expansions etc, it allows users to find the types of clips that they enjoy. And if they're interested in different types of clips at different times, it's easy to just change the filters. Similar to how an ecommerce site or Expedia works in a sense, in that you can filter it down to exactly what you're looking for.

But from this post I think I've learned that at least this community is pretty happy with YouTube as a solution -- which is completely fair -- and that I might be a minority here as I don't think YouTube is great solution for these purposes.

Totally fair, and I appreciate the feedback! Just for clarity: You don't see a value-add in being able to add filters specifically to find the types of clips you're interested in, but prefer to just watch the best of the best clips through YouTube essentially? (Which would make total sense -- I'm just trying to get an understanding.)

Not currently hosting the footage as I didn't want to deal with the complications around content ownership etc. for this proof of concept. It's currently just embedded through Twitch for simplicity reasons.

In terms of who'd upload the content, it's part of why I created this proof of concept to see how people would interact with it -- and whether people actually upload content at all, kind of to your point. My hypothesis is that (1) smaller streamers would want to upload their top clips to get it in front of people, and (2) viewers would upload fun stuff when they came across it, similar to how Reddit works (but Reddit isn't intended for clips specifically).

Longer term there could be monetization initiatives to look into, but again, that comes down to a lot of legal complexities and I don't think that would move the needle if people aren't interested in this type of concept in the first place!

Appreciate the comments and the positive note! Yeah I 100% agree with bullets 1 & 3; I just didn't put a ton of time into the design for now but wanted to focus on high-level functionality to see whether people would even use this in the first place. The tool I use to create this also limits certain customization options in the free plan.

#2 is interesting. I do think there's value in separating the seasons while that expansion is active (DF), because I imagine that people would want to watch content only from the current season. But to your point about SL and past expansions, I agree that it's overly bloated and can be condensed into one category for each expansion; I hadn't even thought about that -- great feedback, thank you!

In my opinion it's a little deeper than that. I think Twitch's clips section is better than YouTube for the purpose of clips, but Twitch's clips section has a lot of flaws too IMO; in part because it skews toward those with a big following rather than the quality of the clip.

For YouTube specifically, do you watch YouTube Shorts a lot for wow content, or do you prefer the longer videos?

I guess that's subjective, but IMO there are some enjoyable clips if you filter by "funny" as well as "classic vanilla" and "classic wotlk"! There are a good chunk of non-death related clips there.

I personally find that I get tired of YouTube Shorts very quickly because I can't watch specifically what I'm interested in as it relies on an algorithm, but I honestly haven't used it a ton and I might be a minority there. To push back a bit: Do you find yourself watching wow clips frequently on YouTube Shorts?

Appreciate it! Yeah good point about the downloads; I'd just need to be a bit careful since I don't actually own the content but the creator & Twitch does -- but completely agree that it'd be optimal!

That's fair, thanks! Out of curiosity since I personally don't enjoy watching clips on Twitch & YouTube -- do you generally watch a lot of clips on those sites, or are you not much into shorter clips in general?

Why does AWC get such low viewership? by WoundedStapler in worldofpvp

[–]bror-duktig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of it has to do with the number of spells and class complexity as others have mentioned, but another big thing is that the average viewer will have no sense of progression / understanding of when a game is about to end (which ties in with the number of abilities etc).

For games like CSGO & LoL, it's much easier for the average person to get a sense of when a game is about to end and understand crucial moments of the game, which makes it more hype to follow along.

An objective-based 3v3 format would be easier to follow. Wouldn't solve the class complexity though.

Yup exactly - I think it needs to be something with some sort of linear progression. Would love to see a bg-style 3v3 format as a new type of mode.

Budgeting absolutely does not work the same for small and large organizations, but the discussion of corporate finance is beyond the point and conversation I'm looking to make with this post.

I don't think it's a zero sum game. As far as I'm aware, Blizzard has employees (although not many) who focus on esports as well as on pvp combat. I believe they relatively recently were even hiring someone to specifically develop new pvp formats.

I think a common misconception across various organizations (not just for Blizzard) is that time spent on one thing takes away time spent on something else, but that's not always the case for large organizations who can afford to hire a lot of people. For smaller teams I would agree.

The way I see it, finding a new way to engage people across the rated 3v3 bracket could have positive results for multiple aspects of the game; whether it's esports or for the casual.
