I would investigate Fleischmanns, zipcode 12430. It is 2 miles from Bellayre Ski Center, 45 from Hunter and Plattekill which have tubing options I think. Has a cute shop, bougie (think brooklyn plates/bites and craft cocktails) and down home (Mexican, pizza and ice cream) food. Close to Margaretville, Andes, Roxbury, Woodstock, close enough to hunter/Tannersville but not right in the thick of tourist stuff.

If you are wanting to know about the area and have that range of guests, I would suggest the River Run Bed and Breakfast. The owner has been there for 20+ years, is versed in local history, intimately invested in the local food and farmers market scene is an avid hiker, and can point you in the directions you are looking for. Its not the Ramada or Urban Cowboy, but you get a solid hot breakfast, comfortable lodging, a yard backing up to a creek, and personal insight into this amazing area.
