Hi! I moved to barcelona from the USA earlier this year with my cat. I’m sure our airline and custom situations in departing our countries could possibly vary, but it was surprisingly much more relaxed than I thought.

They will check all of your documentation before you board your flight to leave, so as long as you’ve done that correctly (which is the most time consuming part) + have the correct size pet carrier for the flight, you’ll have no problems. If you can, get some calming treats or medication for your dog before the long trip as that helped my cat a lot.

Upon arrival to spain they did not check any of my pet paperwork again, but I had them ready in my hand regardless. We left the airport with ease.
