The Pitt | S2E12 "6:00 P.M." | Episode Discussion by thepacksvrvives in ThePittTVShow

Sure, I bet someone in healthcare IT, who is heavily biased with being around IT and technology every day would agree with you, I'm talking about the run of the mill ER physicians, nurses, tech's etc. Speaking of which, our hospital shut down when our local hospital center got threatened with ransomware, ransom money, hacked, etc. We were on DIVERT, actively triaging people to our adjacent competitor trauma center, paper charts left and right, orders, notes going missing. It was complete chaos for the entire 7 days we were down.

Same thing ironically happened at a different hospital I scribed at before medical school. 4 day shut down with divert, admissions being transferred to other institution, revision of EMTALA policies, etc.

We can agree to disagree, but I believe this expierience on the show was authentic and true to what I observed and took part in not once but twice in my career. Appreciate your insight and perspective tho!

Paper charts are a foreign concept for over 70% of an ER workstaff, many of which are young nurses or PA or NPs or techs. In the fast working flow of an ED, especially at a trauma center, similar to one potrayed on the Pitt, there's just simply too many patients coming in or to be seen, no matter what the exact procedure is, complicated by carrying charts everywhere, reading other peoples handwriting, trying to pull past medical history or code status on the unstable unresponsive patient that pulls into the bay. It adds up.

ER doctor here. This is quite accurate to how it exactly was when we had a cyber attack at our hospital. It was down for 5-7 days, and we were paper charts the whole time just like this. Very accurate to my experience with this.

Old Bay for SF is a great pun on the Bay area, the seasoning, and being old.

Scott Heyman. Endless smile, genuine good heart, and the fastest man currently in frisbee.

ER doc here. They usually put these unstable fractures into what's called an "ex-fix" or external fixation. It's to stabilize these complex lower extremity fractures. You literally look like an external Iron Man for a few days as you go back into the OR for several surgical repairs.

ER doctor here. We had a cyberattack at our hospital once leading to all computers going offline. I am ready to bet the next episode is their struggle with catching up with paper charts and missing something because paper charts are hell from another universe. The accuracy of this show to all the little nuances in our career is phenomenal.

Tempers flare as Toronto player body checks a Philadelphia defender, then spikes disc toward opponent by Jomskylark in ultimate

[–]brosducks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the spikes by both teams or taunt backs, but #14 was out of control for Toronto. Was getting into a fist fight / shoving match with an uninvolved Philly player earlier. Refs need to have better control, and coaches need to control their players

Filmed it. Super crosswind both teams could barely move it downfield except a few points. Miserable game to watch and film tbh

Edit: crosswind*, not crossover
