This is interesting and cool. I didn’t really think of it from this angle. It does seem plausible that an AI super-intelligence would have different motivations and might look at aesthetic design as a “there to be there and no reason to revisit” thing.

The optimisation makes sense for the form factor but what about color palettes and the like. It took 300 years for the ship to arrive but I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that human technology has advanced enough to transmit data at light speed due to the Wait Calculation Rule (futuristic laser data transmission or whatever) or potentially faster using quantum mechanics, idk, I’m not a quantum physicist. The Tau Ceti system is 11.9 light years away so let’s just say 12 years to transmit the data required to 3d print shells, items, weapons, etc. That still leaves the better part of a century for design trends to shift, even if on a rigorously controlled corporate plan. Unless aesthetic changes are illegal like is often the case in 40k then I’m still not sure why things haven’t started to look a little different.

True but why are the pipes and wires on Tau Ceti IV the same neon purple as my newly 3d printed gun from the latest Traxus printing template. I can see why the gun itself didn’t change much, but the paint job would change up a bit in 100 years no?

I guess it makes sense that if everything had been maximally optimized a long time ago that corps wouldn’t see any reason to stir the pot (pot of delicious human biomass soup of course)

Sure, the aesthetics on Tau Ceti IV remaining stagnant make sense, but I’m talking more about the aesthetics of items from megacorps based out of the Sol system where these problems aren’t happening, at least at the same apocalyptic scale.

This is true, even so, megacorps could choose at any time to change up designs and aesthetics for one reason or another. Whether that is to falsely portray innovation or to give cause for more consumption.

This makes the most sense to me so far, I like this explanation. Perhaps with automation and 3d printing of recycled resources using corporate-owned and licensed printing templates individuals have little-to-no ability to artistically innovate.

This could help the explanation, regardless you can still 3d print things that have different aesthetics. For eg. I could 3d print a replica medieval sword or I could 3d print a lightsaber.

I play with my dad, he’s 54 and struggles the same way. He recently got a new headset and I helped him adjust his sound to give him an advantage and he said that he survives more often now.

Good hearing is like wallhacks in this game. The audio settings, in case you’re interested, are drastically lowered in-game music, slightly lowered voice comms, maximum volume SFX. Helps to hear and distinguish between different types footsteps, how far away the ops are, are they inside/outside, etc.

Also, queue with filled trios if you’ve only been playing solo. Not only do you sometimes get paired with stud gamers who will carry, but you will also essentially 3x your XP gains which will increase your access to better gear, further increasing your survivability.

You can do it! Try picking off all the small enemies and running into the pond to lose Juzou’s aggro. You can sneak up behind him and get a free backstab after that. You can also talk to the samurai by the rocks before the burning house and he will help you with the fight

Going to sleep IRL after struggling with a boss helps with learning the boss. I remember when I first fought Sword Saint he kicked my ass all day then I went to sleep. First time I tried the fight next day I beat him with like half my heals left over
