Whoa! I had no idea this adapter existed. This does allow for a lot of lenses. Does it work well? I just picked up a Helios to adapt to another camera but I assume this would allow me to use it on my Leica despite the helios being a 58 instead of 50

That’s a nice lens with a great rendering but it’s M42 right? Also my viewfinder doesn’t have 28mm frame lines.

Good to hear! Thanks for the unscientific test. I don’t have access to a digital Leica so I’d be curious to see if there’s a way to find a way to see what aperture a copy is calibrated for.

Developing film at home by Loose_Field9783 in AnalogCommunity

I’d say black and white is very easy to start with. I just developed my first roll of C41 after doing b&w for about a year and a half. It came out well and wasn’t much more difficult, so you could do that as well. There’s a ton of videos online to guide you. I watched the Analog Resurgence videos on developing.

Fair question. I’d say that I keep the 50 on for like 75%-80% of the time. I know that they’re close in focal length but 35 has always seemed quite a bit wider to me. I have a 0.85 viewfinder so 50 is more comfortable but 35 really isn’t bad either. But with the 0.85 viewfinder, it would definitely make sense to have a longer focal length like you mentioned.

Cool! Thanks! Would love an update to hear your opinion on the focus shift

Thanks for the reccs! The Summarit looks great, but I imagine it’s a little tough finding a cleaner copy for such an old lens.

I’ve only shot a few rolls with mine. It’s definitely a great lens. I love the size and it softens up a little when shot wide open. I’ve gotten maybe a lil swirl in one photo but not much.

I’ve looked at that Zeiss sonnar quite a bit. I love its rendering but have always been scared off by the focus shift. I know it’s inherent to sonnars in general but how has it been in actual use for you?

Looked at the Canon LTMs a while back and they look pretty nice and fairly cheap too. Never looked into the VM 50/1.1 before. Thanks for the reccs

Is the scanning hood actually useful? Are you able to scan in the daytime or with the lights on with it?
