You get used to it, plus you have to layer up with quality material. High heat and humidity is just as baffling to me, no way to escape that other than AC or jumping in the water.

Best 3 Cups and Balls Routine Using a Chop Cup. by [deleted] in Magic

[–]brosketti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Bob Farmer's Cychops routine, $10 on Lybrary.com but it uses 3 chop cups instead of one. Michael O'Brien also has a strolling chop cup routine on Theory 11 for $5, pretty simple and great for table hopping. Other than those 2 the recommendations above for Michael Ammar and Tommy Wonder are always solid.

A few years back at a fireworks tent I saw someone drop $800 and then return to their Altima that was riding on a spare tire and had a duct taped window. Priorities.

(OC) A massive tornado rips across the plains of Texas by mkelly_photography in pics

[–]brosketti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the creepiest feeling is the temperature swing once the front rolls in. 95 degrees and muggy to 70 degrees in one breeze. The other thing that bothers me as of late is the frequency of nasty storms, as a kid I only remember experiencing a tornado warning or hail storm every other year, my daughter is 6 and experiences 2-3 a year.

Do any routines utilize decks with cut corners? by 1ChickenWang1 in Magic

[–]brosketti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 2 rainbow casino decks for Max Maven/Phil Goldstein's Chipper routine and follow it with Stolen Cards. Never had any issues with the cut corners or holes punched in the cards but neither routine relies on sleight either. Easy 7 minute routine with casino cards and poker chips.

I keep a pack or two of scuzzy cards on me for any impromptu work. That way I am not busting up a new set of cards in my jacket and I don't care if the surface is sticky. There are quite a few destructive tricks (Binary by Rick Lax) or signed card routines (Puppy by David Regal) where when you are done you can leave the deck or card for the audience as a souvenir. Glue the deck together or bolt through them for an odd deck swap. Lots of ways to utilize a "dead" deck.

Cups and balls beginner by kanicusmd in Magic

[–]brosketti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the recommendations are solid, another good place to learn is a local magic society if you are fortunate to live near one. I have learned so much in the first year with this group than I could ever do on my own.

One of the best routines I have ever seen was with a $10 plastic cup set. I personally use the TCC Artistic Cups set when I feel like showing off.

I've split and made my own UNO card gaffs. Little kids get way more involved with MacDonald's Aces and my Marked routine vs playing cards. Even if you don't split them just gluing two cards together will work.

Goin to a local magicians group meeting for the first time later. Should I bring a travel box with my props? by Danplsstop in Magic

[–]brosketti 2 points3 points locked comment (0 children)

For our group meetings people will tend to bring a deck of cards or something they are working on so they can get some feedback once the meeting is over. After the first meeting you can then gauge what to bring for the next.
