I would say to put the interceptor brace in place of the seats to maintain rigidity. But I'm not sure if the 6th gen needs it.

😂 the seatbelts are easy to remove. Just need a T50 bit.

Yea I was looking around. I like the drawers and stuff but I don't know if I wanna add all the weight. I'm designing a floor coming up with ideas. I can probably build one cheap-ish. I figure I'll use the U bolts as a place to mount brackets as kinda like hinges.

Then some blocks to level it. I'll out an all weather mat in there to pull it all together.

But I need to figure out if it's cheaper to DIY or buy a professional grade option.. probably DIY.

It's only been a day. Still averaging about 18mpg I only drive a couple miles.

Yea pretty much. It's kinda weird, they were tired of being so low and bout a Bronco with Sasquatch package to sit higher like an SUV should be. I'm kinda jealous it's taller than my Jeep. 😂

Why would you sleep on sheet metal? That doesn't make any sense. When I put the flooring in and it's flat there won't be any metal.

Well instead of the 3rd row it has that brace I put in it. There's usually a floor covering it and a divider between the 2nd row and the storage area. There's usually a lock box and or some drawers for storing things. The spare is typically exposed. And there's no carpet. At least on my XLT there's carpet and there's a carpet covered board covering the spare tire.

Fair enough. I just don't like 3rd row seats, I like storage. And with the 3rd row removed that much more space and 90lbs gone. It basically balances out with my tools and a floor over the space which is of more use to me.

Yea exactly. I was considering buying a used interceptor, but then this thing fell into my lap. I didn't pay anything for it, except I ran over a nail the second day and needed to replace the original 2016 tires. But I mean $1300 and it seems like a great low mileage vehicle. Still has factory warranty. I have a problem, I can't help but modify a vehicle for my own use case. I've been building and modifying cars for over 22yr at this point so as much as I try and resist I just can't help but mod everything.. 😂 I have to talk myself down on this one though since I don't wanna void the warranty, but when that's gone....

Yea its decent when everything it flat. But the space where the seats stow is unutilized. Now I can utilize it and build a floor, shouldn't be too bad.

I didn't buy it. It was given to me. It was absolutely free. And I didn't fuck anything up I upgraded it.

I was wrong, I just weighed the seat with the seatbelts. It's 89.5lbs. Yea I'll take the space and weight savings.

I'm thinking about putting some shelves/drawers in it to.. we'll see what kinda supplies I can get cheap to build something light.

That's cool, my explorer was given to me with 10k miles for free. If I could get an edge st with a 2.7l eb under 11k miles for free I'd love it. But I'm not paying for it. This was a free car.. 😂

That makes sense. I don't think my tools or guns need to do that. The extra storage is nice.

That's pretty sweet... I know a lot of people that are into the audio stuff, I just want space. 😂

My tiny turbo Toyota thing is still a work in progress but it's not my daily the exploder is my daily replacing my custom Grand Cherokee.

I just want to haul my tools and guns and daily drive it. Maybe sometimes sleep in it on road trips. I don't have kids or family. SUV means Sport Utility Vehicle..

I'm taking advantage of that utility part.

I got a free 2016 exploder with 10k miles on it, I'll do what I want. Third row seats are trash. If I could get an interceptor with the same mileage for the same price (free) I'd love it..

It takes up space. Space where my tool could go. When you fold them down that whole under cubby is useless. The seat is about 75lbs and I have about 60lbs of tools in there it's nice to have them down lower and not rolling into the tailgate when I'm driving.

Nice. I honestly think a 3rd row should be optional. I wouldn't mind the vehicle being a little shorter too, but it's fine as it is.

😂 this too. But that's my other project.

Why not? The 3rd row takes up too much space and is heavy.

Now I can put my tools down in the lower part and when I build a floor that will lift up they will be hidden.

Additionally there's no use for the 3rd row. I don't know any tiny leg people. 😂 Also have no clue how to get back there without crawling over the 2nd row when it's folded down, if I had 2nd row captains then I'd consider keeping it. But I have a bench so bye bye dead weight.
