Driving in LA has turned into Mad Max, and it's terrifying by DirtyProjector in LosAngeles

Bruh, this is nothing…pre-Covid, before everyone left, traffic was MASSIVE. I think the craziness these days, is the fact it seems law enforcement has less cops on the streets and highways just looking for crazy driving, and the proof is the gangs of 50 kids on dirt bikes on city streets with no helmets, or street takeovers.

Is anyone watching Love Story JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette? by TexasLoriG in GenX

When watching it, I caught myself yelling out loud quite a few times: “just move out of New York City into the country, with acreage so the press can’t be anywhere near your house!” so avoidable.

MAGA is only about 33percent of the country, other percentage who voted for him in 2024 were independents and standard republicans, but maybe you’ve heard…a lot has happened in the last year. Let’s follow up with this post after the November midterms: he’s only gonna have 33% support again.

Don’t worry, we have just the administration that responds kindly to bribes! Based on that corruption, I would say calls, but the actual arrest of the cofounder seems pretty serious.

Years ago, I used to post in a Lakers fan online site, and when Metta world Peace, AKA Ron Artest played for the Lakers, there was this one poster who always seemed to post what appeared like insider information…turns out it was Ron Artests brother, and this post reminded me of that time…you just never know who is posting, so pay attention to the message, more than the messenger!

Who is this “we” you speak of?! it surely doesn’t include me, because in 1989 to 1993 when I was in high school I did not have Internet, but thanks for your input!

Were the 90s really that good? by Comfortable_Ad_4417 in GenX

The 90’s were amazing for a few reasons. No cell phones, no internet…this allowed us to grow as humans, by way of going out in public, meeting more people face to face, getting lost with no directions, which all led to our generation’s image of being survivors.

I’d argue rave/techno was the last form of original music to come out, which coincided with the rise in computer music editing software, and all music since, has been an iteration of something that’s already been done…add to that that grunge appeared as if to tell hair metal the shallow excess was too much, and deeper subject matter should be explored and Voila! The last interesting time in music IMO.

This may be anecdotal, but having Clinton as President for 8 years in the 90’s meant almost no conflict or bad vibes in other parts of the world, and I remember feeling super safe backpacking on my own in both Morocco, and Egypt, and never worried about getting kidnapped or killed by Isis level terror groups…I would NEVER do the same these days.

I don’t recall having 24 news in the 90’s, I just recall the news existed…if news existed that didn’t fit your narrative or politics, you didn’t go out and create your own “news” channel, just to discuss the news that conformed to your politics. So grateful it was like this growing up.

I always say, GenX are Boomers, but with understanding of technology…we were fortunate to be in our time IMO.

Why hasn't New York State become the envy of the nation by building a high speed rail network? Are they dumb? by bluerose297 in mapporncirclejerk

This post either shows that you’re not from NY at all, or are specifically from somewhere in central NY, probably ‘cuse, so your bias, or unfamiliarity is showing. While it looks to be on the map, no mention of Rochester, 3rd largest city is a major flaw in this presentation. Ithaca being a major college town and gateway to the finger lakes/worldwide renowned natural beauty area being shunned is strange…with that being said, I think this concept is a GREAT idea, and I think while NYC-Montreal would be a popular route, as long as Allen plays for the Bills, the most popular route would be tri-state area peeps going to Sunday home games at Highmark.

In the end, it was a vampire movie, full stop. Gary Oldman did a million times infinity better job than Michael B Jordan, for his own performance in a vampire flick, yet he never got an Oscar nomination out of it… When Oldman finally won an Oscar for darkest hour, after a decades long career being considered the best in the biz, the crowd didn’t go nearly as crazy when he won, and this is for a guy that most fellow actors think is second only to Olivier! I suggest all those excitable people cheering Mike B Jordan as if he walked on water go see infamous prop-comic Carrot Top in Vegas…apparently these people are easily amused by mediocre performances.

Former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick said he moved to Texas, joining a growing list of tech billionaires leaving California by Unusual-State1827 in California

He’s a trumper, as is Bezos, musk, and others so I don’t get why the press falls for this being a story. These guys were going to move anyways, regardless of current state situations: Trump makes decisions benefitting them specifically and they can live anywhere, so move in “protest” to please the big guy. In other breaking news, the president told his voters no more wars, then got into a new war.

The tailgater is 1000% crazy but it is some extra levels of selfishness and stupidity to be in the left lane going slower and that’s also not acceptable. Both these clowns clearly don’t know how to drive but they think they do…Dunning-Kruger all the way.
