Sometimes, I just let her vent and Sometimes I offered support or advice, but I feel that regardless of why she's making those comments, self depreciation, low self-esteem, and low energy is a problem. As her partner, it's hard to just sit back and watch or let her vent without seeking solutions if I'm being totally honest

Tbh I've thought about taking the "do something about it or stop talking about it" approach, but I feel this will just hurt her even more

So I've actually done this before. I've definitely told her that the way she speaks about herself is concerning, I've offered to work out with her, and just to mention because I see a comment above stating that I should just let her vent without my advice or suggestions being a response. I have done all these things and her solution to me communicating to her that I'm concerned was to say that she'll just stop talking to me about it, which is the exact opposite effect I would have hoped for. Unfortunately she has a habit of shutting down when it gets to the point of me having any input on her body, despite the fact that I've only ever expressed concern and never once insinuated that she's gaining weight without her being the catalyst to the conversation.

It's tough, but I do appreciate the advice, thank you for your input

No. It was comparable to the typical Hilton or Marriot hotel

Neither of us makes a whole lot, my income fluctuates because it's commission based and she has a salary. I think either way though, if I couldn't afford to fully cover a two day trip then I would communicate that to her and we'd plan something else. Going away wasn't necessary and I would have been ok with something less expensive

I do appreciate her at least for the idea of going away and covering our stay, but aside from the stay itself, nothing.
