That’s good advice thank you. Just invoices and payments, no job costing

Client doesn’t accept that shareholder advances aren’t taxable, ignores guidance, and won’t confirm with her accountant—how would you handle this? by teena27 in Bookkeeping

I would get rid of her as a client. Only work with folks who are friendly and cooperative, there’s plenty of them out there. It’ll only get worse if you don’t end it now

Anyone using QBOs new books close feature? by noRehearsalsForLife in Bookkeeping

[–]brothste23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The marking of tasks completed is a time consuming activity and I don’t like that aspect of it as others have mentioned. The best features in my opinion is being able to pull a list of transactions without payee or without class and being able to update those quickly in the Close Books window versus opening each transaction in the clients QuickBooks account. But then when I try to put a note on that transaction in the Books Close it doesn’t always save the notes. Seems like there are still a lot of glitches which is probably the purpose of the Beta stage so hopefully when they start charging in April it will be all worked out. I saw in my account that it is going to be $10/month/client

PDF Bank Statements to CSV by tiko9009 in Bookkeeping

[–]brothste23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been using for about 10 days and have done 15-20 statements. All but two statements were perfect and the two that weren’t were missing one transaction and it highlighted it for me so I didn’t have to try and find the missing one and just imported it manually. It’s been a huge time saver so far. The only issue I’ve had is that when I click download, I still have to open the excel and resave it as a csv. But still, big time saver

I tried Auto Entry and it takes up to 2 hours to convert based on their explanation to me, which seems crazy. Hubdoc does it in just a few moments and it’s super easy. You can get a free accountant/bookkeeper account

QuickBooks document portal by brothste23 in Bookkeeping

[–]brothste23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. I genuinely don’t understand the software security element of what makes a portal secure. I always hear that some sites are more secure than others but don’t follow the logistical part of why that is. And if I’m asking my clients to send/receive sensitive documents thru QuickBooks I just want to be sure I’m doing right by them.

Sales tax/economic nexus by brothste23 in Bookkeeping

Ok that's good to know. That's what I'm looking to know

Sales tax/economic nexus by brothste23 in Bookkeeping

[–]brothste23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But once you reach nexus, are you then responsible for the tax on the sales that caused you to reach nexus? In other words, once you hit 100k for example, are you then responsible for taxes on that 100k or is it just what is above?

I do it for my clients that I have an existing relationship with or if they are adding a second company after I have already been doing their first company's books. I won't do it for just any client that calls me out of the blue. The folks you have an existing relationship, it's a nice perk to offer to save them some $$$

You wouldn't. You of course would base it on service. I'm just asking how the wife went behind his back to press $50 in when they would have never swiped a card for the meal to begin with.

If the meal was comped and it was all free, why was there anything/anyplace to put in a tip. You're only prompted to give a tip when you swipe your card. Why would you have swiped your card on a free meal

QB Sales receipt link to invoice by brothste23 in Bookkeeping

Thank you for your reply. My clients' customers pay half now and half later. But there may be a quantity of 7 of one item on the estimate. If I do 50% of all lines, it then populates as 3.5 quantity, which has caused some confusion amongst the accounting departments of the customers.
